It’s the first semi-final of Euro 2021 as Italy take on Spain at Wembley Stadium. It’s an eye-catching matchup between two of the best sides in Europe. Italy have had an impressive run so far. They topped Group A and got past Austria in the first knockout round. Roberto Mancini’s men secured a convincing 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarters to progress.

Spain have also shone. La Roja topped Group E and got past Croatia in the round of 16 after an end-to-end match. Luis Enrique’s men needed extra time in the quarter-finals too. They beat Switzerland on penalties to book their place in the final fours.

It’s a regular fixture in both the European Championship and the World Cup. Italy vs Spain is the most-played fixture between European nations at major tournaments. They’ve met at each of the last three European Championships including twice at Euro 2012. Italy have had the upper hand. They won 2-0 at Euro 2016 and have the better record with four victories to Spain’s one.

That one win for Spain was a big one. It came in the final of Euro 2012 which La Roja won 4-0 to lift their second successive European Championship. That was the last time either of these sides made it to the final of a major tournament. They’ve both lifted this trophy in the past and are two wins away from doing it again.

Italy are the slight favourites to get there. Roberto Mancini’s side are 1.70 to progress to the final. It’s 2.05 for Spain to reach the showpiece at Wembley on Sunday.

England take on Denmark in the second semi-final of Euro 2021. Wembley is the destination for this match between two of the stories of the tournament. The English have the advantage of playing on home soil. Gareth Southgate’s men have played almost all of their matches there. They topped Group D and beat Germany in the round of 16. England travelled to Rome for their quarter-final match and beat Ukraine 4-0.

Denmark have had a rocky road so far but are playing in their first major tournament semi-final since 1992. Kasper Hjulmand’s side scraped out of Group B and beat Wales 4-0 in the round of 16. They got through a late surge from the Czech Republic in their quarter-final match but won 2-1.

It will be the first time that these sides have met at a major tournament since the 2002 World Cup. England and Denmark last faced off in this tournament back in 1992. The sides met in the group stage and drew 0-0 as the Danes went all the way and lifted the title.

That was Denmark’s best performance at a major tournament. This is the first time since 1992 that Denmark have made it further than the quarter-finals at the Euros or the World Cup. England are on the brink of their first major tournament final appearance since 1966. They’ve lost each of their last four semi-finals.

But England are the big favourites to advance. Gareth Southgate’s men are 1.33 to qualify for their first European Championship final. It’s 3.25 for Denmark to qualify for the final at Wembley on Sunday.
