Cheltenham Day 2 Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday March 13th
There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday , with NH fans in for an informative afternoon on the second day at the Cheltenham festival. The days feature is the Champion Chase at 3.30pm, where the top class El Fabiolo seems sure to start a very short price for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend. Punters also have supporting cards at Huntingdon, alongside all-weather action in the evening under lights at Kempton and Newcastle.

Today’s Daily Nap
Saint Roi
Cheltenham 4.50 (UK time)
Willie Mullins useful performer has only won 1 of his 9 career starts over fences so far, but he caught the eye at a big price at Fairyhouse in January (soon in rear poorly positioned and finished with running left in the tank in a never dangerous fourth behind Uncle Phil). At the 2023 Festival he ran a screamer to finish third behind El Fabiolo and Jonbon in the Arkle, and is extremely well handicapped on that form alone. He does have to overcome a poor effort at the Dublin Racing Festival, but that was too bad to be true and has certainly not done his handicap mark any harm.
Odds: 9.00
Today’s Value Angle
Ile Atlantique
Cheltenham 1.30 (UK time)
Willie Mullins always has a very strong hand in the novice division at the festival, and his highly regarded chasing type looked a natural fit for this race despite an expensive defeat at Naas in January. He did plenty duelling on the lead that day, going with real zest in the soft ground and reeled in late by stablemate Readin Tommy Wrong, and more patient tactics could well be on the cards in this 2m5f stamina test for young horses. He represents much better value at the prices than his short-priced stablemate Ballyburn.
Odds: 6.0
Other Cheltenham Tips – Wednesday, March 13th
Time (UK) | Odds | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
2:10 | 7.00 | Montys Star | Progressive young chaser who seems sure to outrun his price with ground conditions to suit. |
2:50 | 15.00 | Built by Ballymore | Brought along with typical skill by his astute connections, and could still be one step ahead of the handicapper. |
3:30 | 1.50 | El Fabiolo | Top class chaser has plenty in hand over these rivals, and a clean round of jumping should be enough to land the odds under Paul Townend. |
4:10 | 7.00 | Galvin | Classy performer in this sphere, who has been trained to peak for this valuable cross-country prize after a couple of sighters this winter. |
5:30 | 7.00 | Jasmin de Vaux | Impressive in victory and one to keep on side of in a high class renewal of the champion bumper (where stakes are best kept to a minimum). |
Odds correct as of March 11th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
