Cheltenham Day 1 Horse Racing Tips, Tuesday March 12th
There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with NH fans in for a cracking afternoon as the Cheltenham Festival gets underway. The Champion hurdle is the highlight on Day 1, with State Man now a very short price after the withdrawal of Constitution Hill last week. There are also supporting cards at Sedgefield, Southwell (AW) and Newcastle (AW) to keep the bookmakers busy through to the evening under lights.

Today’s Daily Nap
Corbetts Cross
Cheltenham 5.30 (UK time)
Emmet Mullins would be one of the shrewdest operations in Ireland, with the bookmakers running for cover when the money is down, and his promising chaser should relish the extreme test of stamina that this historic contest provides. He has still looked far from the finished article over fences so far this winter, but the way he travels suggest he is likely to be cantering all over these sluggards, and there remains plenty of scope to improve in this sphere as his jumping gains fluency (brought down through no fault of his own last time out in Ireland).
Odds: 3.50
Today’s Value Angle
Ashroe Diamond
Cheltenham 4.10 (UK time)
Willie Mullins mare remains open to plenty of improvement over timber after just seven career starts (four wins at a yseful level), and she has been targeted at the Festival after making a promising seasonal reappearance at Fairyhouse in December (shade free initially and weakened after the last behind the high class Teahupoo). This strongly run Mares contest should help her settle down in the early stages, and she can swoop up the hill if enjoying any luck in running. At the current prices, she represents much better value than her short-priced favourite Lossiemouth (1/2f with the bookmakers).
Odds: 5.00
Other Cheltenham Tips – Tuesday, March 12th
Time (UK) | Odds | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:30 | 5.00 | Mystical Power | Has the scope to keep on improving as his jumping sickens with experience, and it looks very significant that Willie Mullins has chosen this race over two miles. |
2:10 | 9.00 | Quilixios | Bold jumper who is open to plenty more improvement after just three runs over fences, and overpriced in a very open renewal of the Arkle. |
2:50 | 9.00 | The Goffer | Tough handicapper who will relish the emphasis on stamina now fully fit after a few sighters this winter in soft ground. |
3:30 | 1.40 | State Man | A class act who has a prolific record (10/13 over hurdles), and ran a cracker behind Constitution Hill here on 2023. |
4:50 | 11.00 | Ndaawi | Tough juvenile has won 1 from 3 over hurdles, and has got into this wide open handicap on an attractive opening mark under Jack Kennedy. |
Odds correct as of March 11th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
