Chelsea vs Manchester City: Citizens to slice through Chelsea Chaos
England, Premier League, Sunday, November 12th, 16:30 (UK)
Now, that was some game we witnessed for Monday Night Football. Chelsea’s capabilities against a nine-man Tottenham outfit eventually ground down their London rivals in the end. But they made hard work of it. Against a high line like that, with two men to the good, it should have been like taking candy from a baby. But it wasn’t.
Nicholas Jackson ended up with a hattrick, somehow. I’m convinced he’s not the right man to lead Chelsea up top this season. He may become the type of striker Chelsea yearn for, but he’s not there just yet. And that’s no slight on him – Jackson should be there learning off a leading number nine. Perhaps there will be movement on that front in January.
Regardless, for me, these two are miles apart on the pitch. Manchester City opened at 2.00 to get the win at Stamford Bridge – a price that has since tumbled to 1.75. I still think that’s value, given the state of the two clubs. City may have played midweek, but with the options at Pep’s disposal, I’d assume that he’ll have eleven men fit and firing from the off. The 24 hours extra rest in Chelsea’s favour should have little bearing on Sunday’s outcome.
City allowed Young Boys to have not one single shot on Tuesday night. Of course, you’d expect the Blues to prove much more inventive than the Swiss youngsters, though it’s difficult to envisage them outscoring Manchester City.
Chelsea have lost 15 Premier League games in 2023, only one fewer than they lost in 2021 and 2022 combined (16). It’s their most league defeats in a year since losing 15 in 1994, last losing more in 1993 (20). I’d be shocked if 16 isn’t reached come Monday morning.

Rayo Vallecano vs Girona: Forecast for it to be Ra(yo)ining goals this Saturday lunchtime
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, November 11th, 13:00 (UK)
As goals rain in across the German and English top flights, it feels Spanish fans are missing out a little, with La Liga averaging 2.81 goals per match. However, these two sides are certainly doing their part to provide plenty of goalmouth action, with their respective home and away matches seeing a combined 40 goals at 3.65 per game.
Girona are the shock league leaders as they continue to go toe-to-toe with the might of Real Madrid and Barcelona. This has been no backs to the wall, tight, compact nick a goal on the counterattack rise to top La Liga.
Míchel has his side playing a brand of football any neutral would enjoy, always on the front foot with little apparent care for defending. They are the top scorers with 29 goals from the opening 12 rounds of fixtures, and you would have seen the back of the net hit 44 times in total had you seen every one of their games.
Rayo can come to the party, too, and will get plenty of chances to score themselves, as they have done in four of their five fixtures at Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas. Their average of 3.80 goals per home game is the fifth highest in La Liga, with only two sides able to top Girona’s average of 3.50 on the road, getting on the scoresheet in all six outings.
Our over 2.5 goals selection has cashed in seven (64%) of Rayo and Girona’s combined 11 respective home and away league games this season. While both teams to score has clicked an impressive eight (73%) times.
The two meetings between the sides last season both ended 2-2, with this corresponding fixture taking place as recently as March. This wager would have banked in the 34th minute.

Cuiabá x Fortaleza: History to repeat itself once more
Brazil, Serie A, Sunday, November 12th, 18:00 (UK)
The Brazilian top flight is heating up at both ends of the table. However, firmly in the middle, there are several teams coasting to the end after long campaigns.
Fortaleza haven’t been themselves after their Sudamericana defeat. Their long journey to Uruguay ended in heartbreak, and they’ve since returned to their hectic schedule and suffered back-to-back defeats.
Winless in their last five, scoring just twice, indicates confidence is low within the camp.
Cuiaba are also struggling for any kind of form in the latter stage of the season. One win in five, also scoring just twice, shows their season is petering out – despite not being completely safe from relegation.
Their midweek match against Santos was a snoozefest, who didn’t manage a single shot on target.
Without waffling on too much about a game expected to have little drama, I’ll strengthen my argument with the last five head-to-heads, which have all seen BTTS No win. In fact, under 1.5 goals has also landed.
This won’t be a match for the ages, but it’ll maintain profit from my South American selections.

Bayern Munich vs Heidenheim
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, November 11th, 14:30 (UK)
Bayern Munich were hugely impressive last weekend as they beat Borussia Fortmund 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park. Harry Kane netted his third hat-trick for the club and joined Serhou Guirassy at the top of the scoring charts in the Bundesliga with 15 goals after ten matches. Thomas Tuchel’s side are still two points off top despite being unbeaten and will want to keep the pressure on with an emphatic win here.
Heidenhaim are newly-promoted and come into this one four points above the relegation playoff place. They earned a surprise victory at home to Stuttgart last weekend, but they are still searching for their first win on the road. That’s unlikely to come at the Allianz Arena, and as you’d expect, they are big outsiders for this one.
The Bavarian giants are averaging 3.8 goals per league game. They have scored three or more in five of their last six Bundesliga matches; the exception was the 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig. Bayern have won their previous three Bundesliga matches at the Allianz by an aggregate score of 18-0. During this run, they’ve thumped Darmstadt and Bochum 8-0 and 7-0, respectively. Those are the sides that sit directly below Heidenheim in the table.
Heindenheim have an xGA of 25.63. That’s worse than any other side in the division. They will afford Bayern plenty of opportunities here, so expect Harry Kane to fill his boots as he goes about breaking the Bundesliga goal-scoring record.

Leverkusen vs Union Berlin: There’s No Stopping Alonso’s Almighty Men
Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, November 12th, 14:30 (UK)
What a season Leverkusen are having. They’re on an impressive ten-game winning streak in all competitions, found the back of the net multiple times in all 14 outings and are playing tremendous football.
Victor Boniface has bagged seven times and recorded five assists in the opening ten games, and Jonas Hoffmann has nine goal contributions. Wingbacks Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong have both been involved frequently; the pair have eight goal contributions each.
The hosts are around 1.28 to win this game, which is impossible to back as a single bet. Combining a home win with at least three goals to be scored comes out at a very appealing price. It’s cashed in 13 games from 14 this campaign, as well as all seven at BayArena.
Union Berlin are in a total mess; they’ve lost 12 straight matches at the time of writing, which could easily stretch to 13 before they face off against Leverkusen. Urs Fischer’s side faces Napoli in Italy on Wednesday night, which certainly isn’t the best preparation.
Union have seen this bet land against them in five of their then Bundesliga outings. Leipzig, Dortmund and Stuttgart, who all sit within the top five, have seen this bet land when meeting the out-of-form club.
Leverkusen will travel to Azerbaijan for a Thursday evening clash in Baku, which is not the most enjoyable of trips by any means. They’re in total control of their Europa League group, so rotating players is a possibility.
With two clubs heading in totally different directions, I can only see a convincing home win. The proposed selection has a cracking win percentage; it’s a price too big to ignore.

Monza vs Torino: Does an exciting mid-table clash exist?
Italy, Serie A, Saturday, November 11th, 19.45 (UK)
Torino haven’t won three Serie A games in a row since March 2019, therefore, despite two good performances against Lecce and Sassuolo, I’m not totally confident they can get the three points out of the Brianteo.
Against Sassuolo, the Granata should have scored more than two goals and so far have played their best games away from home.
The return of Duvan Zapata could be crucial for the visitors as Ivan Juric will likely start the Colombian striker alongside last year’s top scorer, Toni Sanabria, who, on Monday, got his first Serie A goal after 169 days.
Only four out of 11 Monza games have seen both teams scoring, but the numbers in this case might be deceptive. In fact, the Brianzoli are one of the teams who conceded the most shots to their opponents: the goalkeeper, Di Gregorio, has already made 41 saves (second only to the Frosinone’s goalkeepers) as Monza’s xG against are 15.77 (instead of the ten they suffered).
Last season Monza shipped 52 goals (only six teams had a poorer defensive record) and have only been involved in a 0-0 draw (against Bologna) in their 49 Serie A matches.
The hosts have scored in four out of five home games, Torino’s defence is depleted (Schuurs, Rodriguez and Djidji are out), and it looks far from impenetrable (five clean sheets in 12 matches).

Brommapojkarna vs Hacken: Win or bust for Brommapojkarna
Sweden, Allsvenskan, Sunday, November 12th, 14:00 (UK)
The final round of the Swedish Allsvenskan is upon us. All eyes will be on the top-of-the-table title decider in Malmo, but there is still some business to be settled at the bottom. Degerfors and Varbergs have been automatically relegated, but the playoff spot is still to be confirmed.
It will either be Brommapojkarna or a giant of Swedish football, IFK Goteborg. Because of a vastly superior goal difference, only a victory would give Brommapojkarna any chance of finishing above Goteborg, so they must repeat the result they got last week, which was a surprising 2-1 victory at Mjallby.
That was their first win in nine games, but at this stage of the season, the formbook can be thrown out of the window because motivation is the key element. Bromma put up a great fight in the reverse fixture in Hacken and nearly beat them, eventually losing 2-4, but it was an encouraging display.
Hacken are totally landlocked in third position. It has been a reasonable defence of their Allsvenskan title, but the clear big issue has been their away form, which has seen them lose 7 out of 14 matches on the road. Most of their problems have come on a grass pitch, and they will be relieved this is an artificial surface, but they simply haven’t travelled well. On the back of a Europa League clash vs Molde, there could be some tiredness and rotation. With no real incentive to get a result, motivation could be questionable.
There is also something else to consider. Hacken’s big cross-city rivals, IFK Goteborg, could still get relegated. The only way that can happen is if Brommapojkarna wins this game.
I am not suggesting any funny business, but if Hacken weren’t quite as sharp as normal, then it wouldn’t be a surprise! Brommapojkarna knows they must win to have any chance of finishing outside the relegation zone, and they look a decent price at 2.25 to get the job done.
