Alaves vs Real Madrid Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
The La Liga title race may well go to the wire and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Alaves vs Real Madrid Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Alaves sit three points above the relegation zone after picking up an important 1-0 win against Girona last weekend. They’ve now lost just once in their last five matches – but at home it has been a different story, suffering three defeats from their last five games in front of their fans.
Real Madrid’s title race took a huge hit after losing 2-1 against Valencia. Hugo Duro’s 95th minute winner saw Barcelona take a four point lead at the top of the table – Carlo Ancelotti’s side can’t afford to drop any more points if they are to hold on to their crown.
Alaves vs Real Madrid Prediction: Narrow victory on the cards
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, April 13th, 15:15 (UK)
Real Madrid’s defeat to Valencia isn’t the final nail in the coffin, but it’s a step further away from securing the title. With a gap of four points – and a Champions League quarter-final to prepare for – we’re about to see what Carlo Ancelotti’s side are really made of.
A trip to North London five days before this tie makes it even more difficult – and although Real Madrid have come out on the other side during hectic periods already this campaign, perhaps it’s all becoming too much for them.
Depending on how that tie goes, Real Madrid have this tricky trip to Alaves to encounter before facing Arsenal once again at the Bernabeu – this time only 72 hours later. Real Madrid haven’t coped too well in the league when it has been sandwiched in between Champions League ties.
They have thrown points away against Osasuna, Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano this campaign, which at the moment, could be the difference to them protecting their title or handing it over to Barcelona.
There’s work to be done – but have Real Madrid finally run out of steam to fight across all fronts? Their loss to Valencia will have hurt – and their trip to North London will be testing.
Alaves, on the other hand, will have a spring in their step after beating Girona. With eight days in between that match and their encounter against Real Madrid, the hosts will be fit and raring to go. And Alaves are no stranger to beating Real Madrid, either. Having won 2-1 in 2020 and 1-0 in 2018, this might not be an impossible task.
Hoping to take inspiration from Espanyol and Osasuna, Alaves will know they are playing Real Madrid at a good time – but their home form needs to improve if they are to guarantee their La Liga spot for next season.
Alaves head into this fixture having lost three of their last five at home (W1 D1 L3). However, away from the end result, it’s interesting to see nine of their last 10 have finished with under 2.5 goals – in fact, all six in 2025 have seen two goals scored or less.
Three of Real Madrid’s last five away matches – across all competitions – have also produced under 2.5 goals, and the last time they travelled to Estadio Mendizorrotza, they narrowly won 1-0.
With one eye firmly on Arsenal, and with Alaves looking to build on their Girona win, a slightly rotated Real Madrid side could once again fall short – but there’s value in backing the unders trend once more.

Alaves vs Real Madrid Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups
Alaves’ Carlos Vicente was the match winner against Girona, scoring only his 4th La Liga goal of the season. The 25-year-old hadn’t scored since January, although he’s constantly been the no.1 choice for the right-wing spot. Defender Nahuel Tenaglia will return to the matchday squad after missing out on the trip to Girona due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
It will be interesting to see who Carlo Ancelotti starts – and much will depend on their result against Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League tie. Brazilian forward Endrick may pick up some minutes ahead of Kylian Mbappe, but Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior should start with the La Liga title still on the line.
Alaves possible starting lineup:
Sivera; Sanchez, Diarra, Abqar, Mourino, Blanco, Jordan, Vicente, Guridi, Martin, Garcia
Real Madrid possible starting lineup:
Fran; Garcia, Rudiger, Tchouameni, Vazquez, Bellingham, Valverde, Modric, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, Mbappe
