Girona vs Betis Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
Two teams at either end of La Liga’s table meet this weekend and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Real Girona vs Betis Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Girona remain five points above the bottom three despite having not won a competitive match since the 3rd February. Winless in nine matches, there’s serious work to do in order to not get sucked into the scrap.
Betis’ Champions League dream took a hit having lost 2-1 at home against Villarreal last weekend, but a return to the Europa League is firmly on the cards – starting with a win on Monday evening.
Girona vs Betis Prediction: Now or never for Pellegrini’s men
Spain, La Liga, Monday, April 21st, 20:00 (UK)
Betis fans were left frustrated and perplexed last weekend. Their Champions League ambitions were seriously dented, losing 2-1 at home to Villarreal – but as always, the scoreline didn’t tell the whole story.
Villarreal only had two shots on target across the 90 minutes, less than half completed passes compared to Betis and the hosts had over double (15) shots inside the box compared to their opponents (6).
But there’s no time to feel sorry for themselves. The Champions League is now out of their hands, but it also isn’t impossible if results go their way and Betis rally with 21 points still to play for.
Although they’ll first be focusing on their Europa Conference quarter-final against Jagiellonia, their next match in La Liga couldn’t be against a more out-of-form team.
Girona are winless in their last nine matches. Within those games, they’ve only drawn a blank on three occasions – scoring hasn’t been an issue but keeping the ball out of the net has been. On six occasions, their opponents have scored at least two goals against them.
No matter what formation Girona appears to field, nothing seems to work – and they are now flirting with the possibility of relegation. If a win doesn’t come soon, they are quickly going to be sucked into the fight.
At home, it’s just one win from seven across all competitions in 2025, losing to Sevilla, Getafe and Alaves along the way. Only Valladolid and Leganes have had worse form over the last 10 La Liga matches.
Players are not only underperforming, but they are also old. Daley Blind (35), David Lopez (35) and Oriol Romeu (33) all featured in their recent 2-1 defeat against Osasuna. At the other end of the pitch, Arnaut Danjuma and Arthur Melo – both on loan – have not offered performances that have lived up to expectations, either.
And with Girona in free fall, Betis have the talent to dust themselves down and go again. Prior to their harsh defeat against Villarreal, they were nine unbeaten, having beaten Real Madrid and held Barcelona during that run.
Isco, Anthony, Johnny Cardoso and Cucho Hernandez all have the ability to change this game, and having won four of their last five on the road, their current price is far too big to ignore. With that in mind, Betis’ Asian Handicap 0 price at 1.89 stands out as the best bet for this match.

Girona vs Betis Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups
Betis will once again be without Chimy Avila and Abde Ezzalzouli for their trip to Girona, but it’s unlikely that they will change their starting XI they fielded against Villarreal. Jesus Rodriguez may be the one player to be dropped for a sub-par performance, with Giovani Lo Celso on standby having recently returned from injury.
Girona are sinking without trace and may have to call upon 38-year-old Cristhian Stuani to get them out of trouble. Having scored six La Liga goals this season, the Uruguayan is their top goalscorer, with midfielder Yangel Herrera (4) their second.
Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga; Blind, Krejci, Lopez, Martinez, Herrera, Romeu, Danjuma, Stuani, Tsygankov, Ruiz
Betis possible starting lineup:
Adrian; Perraud, Llorente, Bartra, Ruibal, Fornals, Cardoso, Antony, Isco, Lo Celso, Hernandez
