Barcelona vs Real Betis Prediction - La Liga
The La Liga title race remains finely poised and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Barcelona vs Betis Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Barcelona had a busy week but came out on top with two victories against Osasuna and Girona, which keeps them three points clear of Real Madrid with just nine rounds left to play.
Betis, however, are flying. Having won their last three La Liga matches in a row, they’ve now drawn level with Villarreal and their pursuit for Champions League football is firmly on the cards.
Barcelona vs Betis Prediction: End to end entertainment expected
Spain, La Liga, Saturday, April 5th, 20:00 (UK)
Barcelona’s last week was very impressive. After the international break was barely over, they were thrown into a midweek home tie against Osasuna, before facing Girona three days later. With a high number of their players away on international duty, six points was always going to be a tall order – regardless of the opposition.
Raphinha didn’t feature after representing Brazil, Robert Lewandowski had to settle for a place on the bench. Yet not only did Hansi Flick keep the three point gap between them and Real Madrid, they did so in style.
A 3-0 win was backed up with a 4-1 hammering against Girona, showing no matter who was to start or come off the bench, everyone was going to pull together and pick up maximum points.
Barcelona were excellent in both matches. Admittedly, the first half against Girona was their weakest of the four, but they simply blew their opponents away in the second half – and of course they had Lewandowski to thank.
So Flick’s team continue to fly under difficult circumstances – but they are once again in for another tough week. First up, Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Having drawn the first leg 4-4, and beaten them 4-2 in the league only two weeks ago, neutrals should be in for a treat once more.
And after that match, high-flying Betis are next. Unbeaten in seven, and well rested from their 2-1 win against Sevilla last weekend, the visitors have a real chance of securing not just European football next season, but Champions League.
A 4-0 win against Guimaraes in the Europa Conference League was followed by a 3-2 win against Leganes before their victory against Sevilla – it’s been a good period for Betis who have been prolific in front of goal.
Admittedly, their 5-1 defeat against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey doesn’t read well, but their 2-2 draw in the league does. It’s also worth pointing out that their last five head-to-head meetings have all produced over 3.5 goals. Three have hit the over 4.5 goal line, too.
On loan winger Antony has received plenty of praise, but former Real Madrid midfielder Isco has scored two goals and provided three assists in his last three matches. Colombian forward Cucho Hernandez has scored in his last two matches, while Johnny Cardoso also carries a threat bringing the ball out from his defensive midfield role.
Both teams are chasing their own dreams, but an early goal can set the tone for a match set up perfectly to produce plenty of goals.
