The La Liga league leaders return to the pitch after the international break and our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Barcelona vs Girona Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.

Barcelona return from the international break with a double header at home. First up, Osasuna, and an opportunity to put three points between them and Real Madrid. Unbeaten – at the time of writing – in 2025, Hansi Flick’s team are very much the ones to beat.

Girona’s season is seemingly petering out, who head into this encounter winless on their travels in their last five attempts. Can they turn that around against the league leaders?

Barcelona vs Girona Prediction: Goals limited with hectic schedule

Spain, La Liga, Sunday, March 30th, 15:15 (UK)

Barcelona return from the international break with a busy week ahead of them. First up, it’s Osasuna on Thursday evening for their rescheduled fixture, before Girona come to town on Sunday.

A midweek win would put breathing room between Barcelona and Real Madrid, but with still next to nothing in it, Flick will need to take advantage of the situation their guests find themselves in.

It has been a disappointing campaign for Girona, and having lost key players last summer, it has heavily impacted them as they looked to balance La Liga as well as the Champions League. They head to Barcelona winless in their last six matches, as well as losing four of their last five games on the road (D1 L4). Goals were an issue, but since their defeat against Real Madrid, they’ve scored in three consecutive matches – it’s keeping the ball out of the net which is the problem – and facing a team with the calibre of Barcelona, it doesn’t get any more difficult than that.

Girona knows that all too well. The reverse fixture saw Barcelona untroubled as they won 4-1, a stark contrast from last season when the hosts hammered them 4-2. But with Savinho at Man City and Artem Dovbyk at Roma, goals have dried up.

If Barcelona avoid defeat against Osasuna on Thursday, that will be 19 matches in 2025 without defeat. At home, it’s five wins from five in the league, racking up 18 goals in the process, conceding just twice.

A boost for the weekend will see the return of their Brazilian. Barcelona are likely to be without Raphinha against Osasuna, but there’s no doubt he will be on the first flight out of Buenos Aires on Wednesday. With a few days rest in between, their class act will be itching to pull on the Barca jersey once more.

With 13 goals and eight assists in La Liga, Raphinha’s partnership alongside Robert Lewandowski is the main reason why they have rallied and put themselves at the top of the table.

But two games in a week could take its toll on Barcelona. In Girona’s last six away matches – all of which have been in 2025 – there has been three goals or less in each game. Two of Barcelona’s last three wins have been 1-0.

The hosts needed 61 minutes to break down relegation-threatened Alaves, while a first half strike against Rayo Vallecano wasn’t added to. They stuck four past Real Sociedad, but Aritz Elustondo was sent off inside 17 minutes at 0-0.

Girona also don’t score many on their travels, with just 11 all season. Yes, the reverse fixture finished 4-1, and Girona’s form isn’t great, but they don’t look like scoring here.

Will Barcelona score more than three? Or will they choose to rest players with their Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid three days later? With three games in a week, Flick may rotate, and this could see the current goal line not hit.

Barcelona vs Girona Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups

As mentioned, Barcelona will welcome back Raphinha from international duty, but how long the Brazilian will feature for is yet to be answered. With Barcelona’s crucial semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid early next week, he could be subbed if Barcelona take a comfortable lead.

Girona remain without Abel Ruiz who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Bryan Gil missed the 1-1 draw against Valencia with a knee injury. He also looks likely to miss out on the trip to Barcelona.

Macedonian forward Bojan Miovski will start up front, who’s confidence may have been boosted after scoring and assisting on international duty against Liechtenstein.

Barcelona possible starting lineup:
Pena; Balde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Kounde, Pedri, Casado, Raphinha, Gavi, Yamal, Lewandowski

Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga; Gutierrez, Krejci, Blind, Martinez, Martin, Melo, Herrera, Tsygankov, Danjuma, Miovski
