Ylena In Albon vs Raveena Kingsley (Montevideo Open): Tuesday, December 5th
Lovely first and third sets from Cristina Bucsa, where she had her superiority talent wise on full display. Unfortunately, she forgot how to hit the ball over the net in the middle set to sink the bet.
Onto Tuesday, where we still have a pair of WTA 125K tournaments to pick from, and this time we’ll head to the Montevideo Open to look at Ylena In Albon vs Raveena Kingsley.

It’s yet another late season matchup that is head-scratching in the way it has been priced up by the betting markets. I’m not sure what Kingsley has ever done on clay – particularly on the slower red clay – that justifies her being a three-game underdog against In Albon, but I’ll gladly take it.
The Swiss hasn’t been the greatest in her own right, but she’s played tougher competition, is more natural on the surface and has done far more as a tennis player overall than her American opponent.
Perhaps it’s my valuation that is off, but I have this closer to -4.5 games on the handicap, which is an almost inexplicably large edge for me to bet.

Ylena In Albon Recent Form
It’s been an odd few years for the 24-year-old, who was once a promising prospect, but hasn’t really managed to put everything together enough for entire weeks, even at the ITF level, to be able to climb the rankings.
Still, she enters the week at 275 in the world rankings, and should probably be in the 175-200 range based on her abilities and the way she has managed to look somewhat competitive against some decent players.
There are some poor losses in recent tournaments on clay in terms of scorelines, but I’d make the case that the majority of her losses came against those that are also clay courters by nature, could wait out her errors and many of them were against players that would likely find themselves in the top-100 to top-150 players on the dirt.
There’s also the fact that she’s played far more on red clay and has done so in a much tougher region of the world, with many of her matches coming at European tournaments.
Raveena Kingsley Recent Form
More so than trusting In Albon, it’s the lack of confidence I have in Kingsley that has me believing that this handicap is off by so much.
Where I think that In Albon has been underperforming and her ranking is probably a tad deflated, in my mind, Kingsley ranking is inflated at 325. Keep in mind that even with their rankings being off in opposite directions in my assessment, In Albon’s ranking is still about 50 spots ahead of the American’s.
Kingsley doesn’t have the experience on red clay, doesn’t really even have that strong of a game for hard courts and built her ranking winning matches at low-level ITF tournaments that draw even weaker fields thanks to being primarily in North America.
There isn’t much power to her game, her consistency is lacking and she doesn’t get enough depth on her shots often enough to keep opponents at bay. Her serve is also a liability and other than the occasional attacking backhand, there isn’t much offence.
Ylena In Albon vs Raveena Kingsley H2H – Stat of the Match
Considering the different regions these two play in for the most part, there hasn’t been a prior meeting between them.
They may not be separated by all that much rankings wise, but I wouldn’t be shocked to find Kingsley out of her depth in this particular match.
