Well, one day after dealing with an incredible defender on clay courts in Celine Naef, Cocciaretto will deal with another pesky clay courter in Riera.
This time around, however, she should be able to work her way through with a bit more ease.
While the Argentine is a strong defensive player, she lacks the ability to counterpunch and flip control of the rallies that the young Swiss does. She also can’t generate nearly as much pace as Naef. Yet her serve is certainly a weakness.
That could be an issue against the Italian, who took a while to work her way into the match against Naef, but managed to break in six of the final seven service games of the Swiss.
With a consistent game in her own right, as well as the ability to generate some pace on her forehand wing and the more aggressive mindset, she should be able to carry her momentum over from a dominant third set on Tuesday into this one.

While Cocciaretto may have underperformed market expectations on Tuesday, the fact is, she was playing a much more well-rounded opponent.
Come Wednesday, she’ll be well prepared for the defensive stubbornness she’ll be greeted with by Riera, but shouldn’t face nearly as much offensive pressure coming from the other side of the net.
