Ugo Humbert vs Lloyd Harris Best Bet: Wednesday, July 26th

Seven total break points in the match between the players. Six of the seven won by Zsombor Piros. There isn’t a marginal stat in a single bet that doesn’t go against us. Truly remarkable. I’m going to quit saying that this eventually turns, because this season has gone on long enough to show it doesn’t.

Now it’s down to whether or not we can outrun the margins going against us at every single turn. Let’s go to the match between and to see if we can find an easy win, since tough ones simply don’t happen.

Ugo Humbert vs Lloyd Harris Preview

Wed, July 26th, 18:00 (UK Time)

Classic match between two big servers on the quick Atlanta courts. At an event that has typically rewarded those with big serves and those that enjoy quicker courts, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see a second-round encounter between the likes of Humbert and Harris.

They both possess huge serves and big forehands to back them up, allowing them to rack up cheap points behind their serves and keep pressure off of themselves.

The difference for me in this one comes in two parts.

First, Harris plays with a bit more margin for error in his game. As impressive as the Frenchman can be, his lack of net clearance and his flatter hitting also produces his fair share of unforced errors.

Secondly, the heat of the Atlanta summer favours the South African in a big way. Not only did he talk about enjoying playing in the heat in his on-court interview following his opening victory against James Duckworth, but Humbert also struggled mightily on Tuesday with his daytime match against Constant Lestienne.

Not only did he drop the first set, but he was in big trouble in the deciding third set, going from 2-0 up to 3-5 down. He looked sluggish and tired on the court and had to call out the physio on multiple occasions during changeovers to help him. Had Lestienne managed to hold his nerve, it’s likely Humbert wouldn’t even be in a position to contest this second-round match at all.

Ugo Humbert vs Lloyd Harris Best Bet

Tough scheduling for Humbert makes this a must-bet for me. Not only was he feeling the effects of the heat on Tuesday, but he’ll be the first singles match-up on court in the searing Atlanta heat around 13:00 local. Rough go of it.

Throw in the fact that Harris also enjoys quick conditions and has a serve that should be able to – at the very least – keep things close and I’m happy to back the South African on Wednesday.

There isn’t much between their games and I think we’ve got a big physical edge here to exploit.

  • Selection: Harris to win
  • Best Odds: 1.92 (Pinnacle)
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as at 2:30 am UK Time on July 26th, 2023. Odds may now differ.
