It may not be the flashiest match on the schedule for Monday’s action, but it certainly does appeal from a betting perspective.
Tomova plays a very consistent style from the baseline and makes very few mistakes. She doesn’t have much power or a big serve, but she won’t beat herself with a slew of unforced errors.
Mandlik can be erratic at times, but she can hit her backhand with some pop and should fare well in the quicker conditions that come with grass-court tennis.
Her primary weakness being her second serve is also in less trouble against someone like Tomova who shouldn’t be able to punish them and take control of those points.
With the stronger first serve and groundstrokes, there is a viable path for her to pull off the upset here as well.

Other than previous experience on grass, I’m not sure what would make Tomova the favourite in this matchup. She doesn’t have many weapons, doesn’t play particularly well in quick conditions and though she’s had more experience on grass, she’s yet to play a match on the lawns this season and her resume in past years doesn’t really inspire much confidence.
Mandlik not having much data on the grass, as well as Tomova having dominated their previous matchup on hard courts, is likely why the market is low on her, but I’m happy to back her at nice underdog odds in this position.
