Monday’s best bet has yet to finish, as rain in Nottingham on Monday postponed the conclusion of the Viktoriya Tomova and Elizabeth Mandlik match to Tuesday, with the pair on serve in the third set.
For Tuesday’s preview, we’ll stick to the 250-level event in Nottingham and take a look at the match between Viktorija Golubic and Jil Teichmann.

It’s a match between two women that have had their respective struggles in 2023, with both Teichmann and Golubic having more losses on their records than wins. For a pair of former top-35 players, that has to be a tough pill to swallow. The result? Neither is inside the world’s top-100 this week.
The primary difference? Teichmann just finished up the clay season – arguably her best surface – while Golubic’s flatter-hitting style is better suited to quicker courts like the grass courts she’ll be playing on over the course of the next few weeks.
Golubic has had far more success across her career than her compatriot, with Teichmann having one career win on the surface. That came about four years ago, against a player who is no longer in the top 350 in the world.
It makes sense as well. Teichmann plays with more topspin and prefers courts that provide higher bounces. Grass courts don’t reward players who play that way.
Golubic has also gotten acclimated to grass courts in 2023. She played a high-level ITF event in Surbiton last week, picking up a few wins, before bowing out to another strong quick-court player in Katie Boulter. That match play this season should also provide her with a bit of an edge.

From experience and pedigree on the surface to style of play, to having matches under her belt on grass courts so far in 2023, everything points to Golubic being a strong favourite to win this match in my book.
While it’s true that her performances haven’t been the strongest this season, there is nothing in Teichmann’s form that would indicate she can really exploit those struggles.
I’ll happily back Golubic in this spot, when the odds should have her as more of a favourite.
