Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Ugo Humbert Expert Tip
While Fruhvirtova has managed to find a few wins in the last couple weeks in China, her form is still far from inspiring. I’ll get a bit more into why I’m still far from being convinced by her game in a minute, but needless to say, I think Stearns has too much for her from the baseline in this one.
The American has really started putting her game together in her first full season on the professional circuit.
Give the more natural hard courter with the better serve and more firepower from the baseline in this one.
Odds as at 3:00 am UK Time on October 10th, 2023. Odds may now differ.

Peyton Stearns Recent Form
Her 19-11 record on hard courts may not blow you away, but with her pro career being so young, I’d posit that’s actually fairly impressive. Throw in the fact that many of her losses have come to the likes of Daria Kasatkina, Marketa Vondrousova, Caroline Garcia or former U.S. Open stars in Bianca Andreescu, Leylah Fernandez and Jennifer Brady, and I’d say that many of those hard-court defeats have come against quality players.
I’m a big fan of the way Stearns plays, even if there is some refinement that could still happen when it comes to her patience and understanding of when she should be trying to end points.
The advantage from the baseline is the main thing that sets her apart in this matchup, and with Fruhvirtova’s serve being one of the weaker ones on tour, I’d say she has an edge on serve almost by default as well.
Linda Fruhvirtova Recent Form
Prior to Ningbo, Fruhvirtova was mired in a slump that saw her drop nine consecutive matches.
That semifinal in Ningbo and then a second-round appearance in Beijing helped her accrue the points needed to push her back inside the world’s top-100, but her four wins featured a pair of clay courters, a retirement win in a match she trailed 1-6 and then a three-set victory against a terribly out-of-form Anna Blinkova.
Despite finally finding some wins – which should help with her confidence and belief on court – there’s nothing to really suggest she’s turning things around in a sustainable way.
Losses to Diana Shnaider and Maria Sakkari by margins of seven and six games, respectively, would also indicate that playing against stronger players is still an issue for her.
Without many weapons from the baseline to take advantage of the quicker conditions and with the aforementioned poor serve, I think she could be in trouble once again here.
Peyton Stearns vs Linda Fruhvirtova H2H – Stat of the Match
We have yet to see these two go toe-to-toe and this should be a fairly decent barometer for each of them.
Can Stearns continue to take care of business of players that aren’t near the top of the game? Can Fruhvirtova continue to build up her confidence and pick up another win, this time against a quality player with a powerful game?
This win would put Stearns really close to reaching a new career high in the next edition of the rankings, so let’s see if that provides her with additional motivation.
