Iga Swiatek vs Lesia Tsurenko Best Bet: Monday, June 5th

Great first set from Clara Tauson and, as per usual, a collapse. Brilliant stuff, really. I’m almost interested to see how many of these blown leads we can rack up without almost any going the other way. Truly is remarkable.

For Monday, we’ll look to the match between Iga Swiatek and Lesia Tsurenko for our best bet from the women’s draw at Roland Garros.

Iga Swiatek vs Lesia Tsurenko Preview

June 5th, 8:45 (UK Time)

It was an absolutely sensational first week from the world’s best clay-court player, as Swiatek got off to a relatively slow start in the first set of each of her first two matches, but has managed to post four 6-0 set scores in the six sets she’s played this week.

It’s absurd just how dominant she is on this surface. I wouldn’t expect that to slow down any time soon either, with her next match pitting her against Tsurenko.

It’s been the best season in a long time for the veteran from Ukraine, but the task of taking on Swiatek on slow clay is a bit much for her.

She showed that when she lost 12 straight games in Rome to Swiatek after starting off with a shocking 2-0 lead.

Tsurenko simply doesn’t have the weapons to hurt the Pole. If you’re going to beat her, you have to keep her on the back foot with a big serve or big groundstrokes. Tsurenko possesses neither of those things.

With Swiatek finding a groove (she’s posted three consecutive 6-0 sets now), it’s hard to see how Tsurenko manages to get to five games without a capitulation from Swiatek.

Iga Swiatek vs Lesia Tsurenko Best Bet

It seems absolutely wild to back an under in a match where the total is set at 16 games. Just five games from Lesia Tsurenko would ruin this bet.

The thing is, Swiatek has been posting 6-0 sets left, right and centre, Tsurenko matches up horribly with the world No. 1 and we saw this match play out in Rome, where Tsurenko managed just two games (the first two of the match) and ended up losing the final 12.

As much as our men’s piece looks to exploit an overreaction to a match just before the French Open, here I’ll look to exploit a match where I don’t think the number has moved enough.

  • Selection: Under 16 Games
  • Best Odds: 2.08 (Pinnacle)
