Maximilian Marterer vs Oscar Otte Good to Great Challenger Expert Tip: In Form Marterer to Move Past Compatriot
Maximilian Marterer (Good to Great Challenger): Monday, November 13th
Well, the ATP is holding its year-end finals this week in Turin, with some of the biggest names in the sport going toe-to-toe. I highly encourage everyone to tune in for some high-quality tennis, but I’d caution against betting those matches aggressively.
It’s tough to find edges in an event that features the top players, where the market is well aware of each player’s style and there is plenty of data for those who rely primarily on stats to come up with their prices.
Not to worry, however, as there are a slew of events on the Challenger Tour to focus on and plenty of value to attack from a betting perspective.
Let’s head to the Good to Great Challenger in Sweden and look at Maximilian Marterer vs Oscar Otte.

Maximilian Marterer vs Oscar Otte Expert Tip
I’m not keen on giving head starts on the handicap to players with big serves on indoor courts in most cases, but I can’t get away from my numbers having this one as a 3.5-game difference – which is a key number in men’s tennis, particularly in quicker conditions.
Marterer doesn’t just have a huge game of his own but is pretty athletic and better on return than one would expect. Throw in his strong play of late, and Otte’s lacklustre form since returning from injury and I’m actually going to go ahead and lay the games with the lefty.
- Expert Tip: Marterer -3 Games at 1.91 with Pinnacle, using 4/10 stakes.

Maximilian Marterer Recent Form
We’re starting to see the Marterer that once surged into the top 50 of the rankings again. The 28-year-old has battled his fair share of injuries in his career and has finally worked his way back into the top 100 once again, thanks to a few strong Challenger runs and a semifinal in Antwerp at the 250 level since the beginning of October.
His loss early last week came to another lefty with a powerful and well-rounded game in Jack Draper, a Brit who is widely seen to have elite potential and could one day be a fixture in the top 20.
Marterer’s game works across surfaces, with the power to take advantage of quicker courts, while also being able to hit through clay. He can also play with spin and is an impressive mover for his size.
I’ll back Marterer to win this one by a fairly standard margin.
Oscar Otte Recent Form
Since returning from injury, Otte hasn’t looked that great. He fell in straight sets in Ismaning to Antoine Bellier, even being broken by the poor-returning Swiss. His win in the first round was a comeback from a set and breakdown in a match he faced break points in a lot of his service games against Marko Topo and the tournament prior, he won just three games against Benjamin Bonzi.
I’m not convinced Otte is anywhere near the top of his game at the moment, and with more vulnerabilities in his service game, his real only weapon appears to be diminished at the moment.
Maximilian Marterer vs Oscar Otte H2H – Stat of the Match
Much like our women’s preview, the head-to-head record here is a tad misleading.
Otte has won five of the seven contests between them, but two were off the professional circuit, another came in a third-set tiebreak, a fourth was via retirement and the final win was on clay.
Not exactly pertinent, especially when one considers the form of each player entering this match.
