Maxime Cressy vs Martin Damm Peugeot Slovak Open Expert Tip: Back the Young Underdog
Maxime Cressy vs Martin Damm (Peugeot Slovak Open): Friday, October 13th
Well that was an annoying way to lose a larger stake bet. Hugo Dellien and Jan Choinski both had a really tough time on serve and after blowing a break lead at 4-3 and losing the set 4-6, Dellien retired after the opening set, which means both Unibet and Pinnacle grade the wager as a loss.
For our men’s preview for Friday, we head to the Peugeot Slovak Open on the ATP Challenger Tour to look at Maxime Cressy vs Martin Damm.

Maxime Cressy vs Martin Damm Expert Tip
A fairly straightforward handicap between two massive servers on a court that has been playing relatively quickly, with far more players winning over 80% of their first serve points than not this week.
Neither of these guys does much of anything on return, both are very tall and have huge first serves and to me, that means that this is much closer to a coin flip than to having either one be a substantial favourite.
There is a bias here to Cressy as the more well known player who has achieved far more at a higher level of the game, but considering the matchup, I think these odds should be taken advantage of.
Odds as at 1:45 am UK Time on October 13th, 2023. Odds may now differ.

Maxime Cressy Recent Form
After a terrible run during the summer, the big American with a French background made the smart decision to drop back down to the Challenger level and to the indoor events in Europe during the fall months that should allow his serve to play extremely well.
The result has been a title in Rennes, France, and another quarterfinal this week in Bratislava.
Even this week though, he’s won each match by a singular break of serve, taking on Lukas Pokorny and Matteo Martineau. I’d venture to say that this is an even tougher serve to return than theirs though and as good as he’s been in big moments, it’s tough to believe that he can continue winning in straight sets while only generating one break point (as he did against Martineau).
He’s starting to find his groove and is as close to unbreakable as it gets, but he’s by no means dominant and the odds should reflect that.
Martin Damm Recent Form
Considered a strong prospect a few years ago as a teenager, Damm really struggled to gain traction in the professional ranks, largely due to his fairly one dimensional game.
There’s no doubting his serve, but his ability to play prolonged rallies from the baseline, his return game and his movement were all liabilities. They still are to a certain extent, though he’s definitely improved a bit.
Recently, the 20–year-old American has really found his stride. Since mid-August, he’s won an ITF title, reached the final of another and the semifinals of a third. Last week, Damm qualified in Alicante and made the final eight and this week he’s replicated that success and is looking to go one step further in Bratislava.
This matchup is certainly a manageable one too. The surface and opponent should both help mask some of his weaknesses and his serve should keep him in the match and going toe-to-toe with Cressy.
Maxime Cressy vs Martin Damm H2H – Stat of the Match
No head-to-head to speak of between the two Americans. Not all that surprising, since Damm has really just begun to play above the ITF level and is just 20 years old.
In terms of the numbers, the stats back up how well these two serve. The Challenger numbers on hard courts for these two have both winning at least 79% of their first serves and hitting aces at a rate of at least 13.5%.
