Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP‘s Hertogenbosch, Laslo Djere vs Ricardas Berankis

Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP‘s Hertogenbosch, Laslo Djere vs Ricardas Berankis

Laslo Djere vs Ricardas Berankis Best Bet: Tuesday, June 13th

Tough going on Monday’s men’s best bet, as we got a tiebreak in the opening set and the player that lost it out to an early break in the second set. Unfortunately, Chris Eubanks – despite his really strong serve – couldn’t find a few holds of serve and the match ended right on 23 total games. Tough beat, but we move on to Tuesday.

For our second preview of the week, we’ll shift from Stuttgart to ‘s-Hertogenbosch and break down the matchup between Laslo Djere and Ricardas Berankis.

Laslo Djere vs Ricardas Berankis Preview

June 13th, 14:30 (UK Time)

Great chance here for Berankis to pick up his first win in the main draw of an ATP Tour event since the beginning of last August when he reached the quarterfinals in Los Cabos.

Though he may not have the overall game to keep himself playing on the World Tour more consistently as Djere does, the preference for quicker courts and Djere’s best surface being clay should help him close the gap here.

The 28-year-old Serbia has never really found much success on the green lawns. Just 3-10 in his career, wins have been few and far between for Djere. It’s worth noting that he’s extended plenty of sets to tiebreaks, but his game from the baseline simply isn’t equipped for success in these conditions.

He can be rushed on quicker courts and the typical contact point is far from ideal for him.

Berankis hasn’t been at his best in the last year or so, but this is as good of a chance as he’ll have to pick up a win on the main Tour. He looked strong in qualifying, passing his first test against a local wild card with ease and then beating Rinky Hijikata, who looked strong in Surbiton last week and is into the second round here as a lucky loser as well.

Laslo Djere vs Ricardas Berankis Best Bet

Djere might be the higher-ranked player here and play on a more consistent basis at tour level, but this is a pretty good opportunity to back a kind of quick-court specialist taking on a clay-court and slower surface specialist.

The quicker courts that see the ball skid through them and stay much lower certainly benefit the Lithuanian more in this matchup than Djere, and while Djere has a decent serve and forehand combination, once the rallies on grass courts get extended, Berankis should feel much more comfortable.

I’ll take him at even money to come away victorious here.

  • Selection: Berankis to win
  • Best Odds: 2.00 (Bet365)
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as at 1:30 am UK Time on June 10th, 2023. Odds may now differ.
