Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner vs Roman Safiullin
Jannik Sinner vs Roman Safiullin Best Bet: Tuesday, July 11th
Ugly stuff from Edoardo Lavagno, who was a no-show for his match against Riccardo Bonadio, leading to a loss on Monday’s men’s writeup. Bonadio looked a bit better, but that was a poor performance on serve against someone who had been struggling mightily for form from the 24-year-old Italian.
For Tuesday’s best bet from the men’s action on offer, we’ll head back to Wimbledon to look at the match between Jannik Sinner and Roman Safiullin.

Another big event, another deep run for Sinner. The Italian continues to be consistent in his success at some of the sports premier tournaments, but the question remains: can he make it all the way through without picking up a physical ailment?
It’s been a theme for him so far in his young career. Success has been abundant, the game is incredible and very few can match his power from the baseline, but it feels like every time he gets close to winning the trophy at a grand slam or Masters 1000 event, his body lets him down.
Tuesday presents another great opportunity for the 21-year-old, as he takes on Safiullin.
The Russian may not be a household name, but he can’t be overlooked in quicker conditions. He’s got a very aggressive game style, a powerful serve, big forehand and in the past few matches, he’s upped his game on the backhand side as well.
It’s not just the power that makes him dangerous either. Slicker, lower bouncing surfaces don’t seem to bother him and a big part of being successful on quicker courts – especially grass – is being willing to absorb big time power and take balls on the rise, firing them back and shifting the pressure onto your opponent’s shoulders. That’s something Safiullin is capable of as well.
Jannik Sinner vs Roman Safiullin Best Bet
Opposing Sinner in the early stages of grand slams feels like a fool’s errand to me. He’s too good, his physical condition is still in tip-top shape and the opposition simply isn’t good enough.
That said, when we get deeper into events, both his level of competition increases and his physical issues start to pop up more frequently.
I’m not suggesting blindly opposing him in the latter stages of events, but when the right opponent at the right price comes along, it feels like passing on the match could be leaving some value on the table.
The market has correctly assessed Sinner as one of the best players in the world. I’m not sure it’s taken his potential weaknesses at this stage of the tournament against an adequate opponent into account though.
