Fernanda Contreras Gomez vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva Abierto Tampico Expert Tip: Back Youngster With Higher Ceiling Talent Wise
Fernanda Contreras Gomez vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (Abierto Tampico): Monday, October 23rd
We got a comeback from Rebeka Masarova from 3-6 down to beat a fading Ana Bogdan in three sets on our max stakes wager on Friday. Now, she led by a break in every set played, so the fact that it was that close is a little misleading, but we take wins on those bets in any way they come!
Another new week brings us another fresh slate of tennis events to bet on. This week some of the top women will compete for the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai ahead of the big year end finals for the top women in Mexico the following week.
There is also the Abierto Tampico, however, a WTA 125K level tournament in Mexico, and with the proceedings in Zhuhai not underway until Tuesday, it’s there we find Fernanda Contreras Gomez vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva for our Monday best bet.

Fernanda Contreras Gomez vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva Expert Tip
The handicap for this one is fairly simple for me.
Jimenez Kasintseva is more talented, more well-rounded and can still play a very consistent game from the baseline – which really negates the greatest asset of her Mexican counterpart.
The fact that she’s priced as a pick ‘em in this one perplexes me despite her incredibly poor form and I’m happy to take the side of the Andorran.
- Expert Tip: Jimenez Kasintseva to win at 1.83 with Bet365 (available at 1.91 with Pinnacle), using 3/10 stakes.

Fernanda Contreras Gomez Recent Form
Formerly in the top-150, the Mexican No. 4 is now outside the top-400 after a season that has been fairly poor.
She had a few runs in altitude on clay in Colombia and recently made a semifinal at an indoor event in Japan against a very weak field, and that’s about it for her.
With an underpowered game and a ceiling on what she can really do to win points, her matches are rarely ever on her racquet and are usually decided by the level of her opponent.
When unforced errors creep into her game, she’s in a world of trouble, as her consistency is all she really has on court.
When she plays against erratic players and is a massive underdog, I don’t mind backing her just because there is always the chance her opponent hits themself off the court.
As an even chance against someone that can sit back and match her consistency and play with a bit more aggression? Not a chance.
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva Recent Form
It’s been a year of growing pains for the teenager and former standout player in the junior ranks.
She’s won just one match since May and her title at the ITF event in Boca Raton, Florida and her quarterfinal at the bigger Saint-Gaudens ITF tournament are distant memories at this point.
Her game has traditionally been based on rigid consistency from the baseline and her ability to extend points with her impressive ball retrieval skills and court coverage. This season, however, we’ve seen her look to add some aggression to her game, and striking that balance between going for winners and limiting errors has been a tough process.
This matchup should provide her with a reprieve from the consistent losses though, as Contreras Gomez is very limited in her abilities on court and unless Jimenez Kasintseva is going to gift her points with unforced errors, she’s going to struggle to find ways to win many herself.
Fernanda Contreras Gomez vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva H2H – Stat of the Match
No prior meeting between these two. With Jimenez Kasintseva still relatively new to the pro circuit and Contreras Gomez not really getting into the events that her higher-ranked opponent gets into, it’s not entirely surprising that this is their first meeting.
I will say, with the market often big on elo ratings when it comes to making the prices, it’s odd to see that Jimenez Kasintseva isn’t the clear favourite here, despite possessing a blended hard-court elo rating that is 60 points higher.
