Cristina Bucsa vs Alice Robbe Expert Tip
I’m not really a fan of Robbe’s game style indoors, and this is another opportunity to oppose her against someone who should have her number.
Last month, we opposed her with a strong server and powerful hitter in Jodie Burrage. This time around, it’s someone who also plays a consistent game, but has a bit more on her forehand and is much more established at a higher level than the 23-year-old Frenchwoman.

Cristina Bucsa Recent Form
Bucsa hasn’t played great tennis in her last few events, but it’s important to contextualise the poor form, since the Spaniard plays primarily at the WTA level, and her competition here is certainly more of an ITF calibre foe.
Last week in Andorra, Bucsa lost from a set up against Celine Naef – a promising youngster from Switzerland. Prior to that? Prospects Eva Lys and Clara Burel, top-10 Jessica Pegula and WTA stalwarts Petra Kvitova and Camila Giorgi account for recent losses.
It’s hard to really hold those against her in a matchup with a weaponless Robbe.
Bucsa’s style is rooted in consistent play from the baseline with the ability to hit through any ball left short. That should set her up well here, since Robbe plays a slice and dice game that looks to force errors, and can occasionally leave a ball sitting up in the service box.
Tough to see Robbe troubling Bucsa enough to send this one to 20 or more games for the match.
Alice Robbe Recent Form
There isn’t much positive to say about the form that Robbe has been in. In fact, looking at her results and who she has beaten, I don’t see an impressive win that didn’t come via retirement since May. Even then, those wins came on clay, where the awkward nature of her game and the slower nature of the courts could give players some problems.
During this late-season stretch on hard courts, Robbe had one decent run at a lower level ITF tournament and has been mired in a slump since. She’s been defeated with relative ease by players that aren’t even on the level of her opponent in this one, and I’m surprised this total isn’t making bettors take a stand on 18.5 games, rather than the 19.5 games on offer.
Cristina Bucsa vs Alice Robbe H2H – Stat of the Match
It’s been a while since these two played last, with Bucsa winning by eight games in their lone meeting. The problem is that match happened five years and on clay, so it’s a fairly irrelevant result.
Five years on from that ITF encounter though, I don’t think that there’s any doubting who has progressed more between the two players, with Bucsa being a consistent presence inside the world’s top-100 and Robbe never having broken into the top-175.
