Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova Expert Tip
I have not been able to get on the right side of a Gauff match this week. I’ve backed her a few times and she’s won in a closer fashion than one would expect given her competition. I opposed her with Jelena Ostapenko and she lost two games in two sets.
This is another tough one, but I do trust Gauff’s level at present a bit more than Muchova who can play in and out of matches. That, on top of similarly well-rounded games and Muchova not able to necessarily rush her forehand, have me siding with the American in this contest.

Coco Gauff Recent Form
Washington title, Cincinnati title, U.S. Open title?
The 19-year-old is just two wins from making that a reality, which would be another rung on the ladder that has seen her win those 500 and 1000-level titles and would give Gauff her first-ever grand slam title.
She’s going to face a stern test before she can contest that final, however, in the form of Muchova.
Thankfully for her, she matches up decently with Muchova. The variety shouldn’t bother her – she has elite court coverage and the ability to avoid unforced errors with aplomb.
Gauff is also able to match, if not outdo Muchova’s net game.
She also has a strong serve and is in even stronger form with more solidity from the baseline.
She has dropped sets in recent matches, which isn’t inspiring, but I do trust her level game-in, and game-out more than I do Muchova.
Karolina Muchova Recent form
What a year for the oft-injured Czech. After years of being lauded as a potential top-10 or top-15 player by much of the community that pays close attention to women’s tennis, Muchova has finally realised that potential, soaring into the top 10 with some great results at big-time events.
On top of this semifinal, she made the final of the French Open and the final in Cincinnati, where she lost to Gauff.
There isn’t much that a 27-year-old does particularly poorly. She has great variety and touch from the baseline, a strong game at net, a big enough first serve and enough pop from the baseline.
The problem for her is mentally, as the unforced errors can come in bunches out of nowhere. That could be a problem in this semifinal for her.
Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova Head to Head – Stat of the Match
The only match these two have contested is the aforementioned Cincinnati final.
I’m not entirely surprised, considering the way Muchova is prone to lapses within matches. When taking on someone like Gauff, who can both hammer down big first serves to find holds, while also playing incredibly consistent error-free tennis from the baseline, a slight lapse in each set could be all it takes to lose it.
That matchup discrepancy is why I lean towards Gauff here, even though I do believe Muchova has just as much of a complete game as the young American.
