Anastasija Sevastova vs Elsa Jacquemot Expert Tip
I was sceptical about the Latvian’s level after her return from such a prolonged absence (she hadn’t played professionally up until a few weeks ago since the Australian Open in January of 2022).
Her play in the last few weeks has alleviated those concerns, with four wins from five matches, only losing to the eventual champion in Andorra from 6-2 up.
She has a well-rounded game and in her career has shown far more ability at the top level on hard courts than her French opponent in this matchup.
Jacquemot came through for us against Arantxa Rus earlier in the week, but it wasn’t the most impressive victory and she really lacked any kind of attacking prowess from the baseline.
Odds as at 4:30 am on December 15th, 2023. Odds may now differ.

Anastasija Sevastova Recent Form
Despite not having played in nearly two years, the veteran from Latvia hasn’t looked like she’s missed too many steps.
She lost a pair of tiebreaks in her first two matches back but stormed back to win those by a fairly large margin after the second and third sets.
Though she blew a lead in the quarterfinals in Andorra, she’s roared back to that same stage this week in Limoges, doing so in impressive fashion. She dispatched both Patricia Tig and Rebecca Peterson emphatically and has worked the outer thirds of the court as proficiently as she always has.
The slices and strong ability on return have also been present in her game, and at anything under 4.5 games on the handicap, I’m willing to take a position.
Elsa Jacquemot Recent Form
I have to say, for a relatively young player whose style is rewarded far more on clay courts, I’m impressed with this late-season run on indoor hard courts from Jacquemot. Her losses aren’t that poor considering her opposition and she’s picked up a trio of wins at the 125K level in recent weeks.
This opponent, however, is a new test. Sevastova may not be at the level she once was, but she’s still clearly better than the vast majority of players at this level and has the ability to play top-50 or top-100 tennis. That’s something Jacquemot has yet to show us, particularly from an offensive standpoint on hard courts.
This match may be a step too far from Jacquemot, and she’ll need a high first-serve percentage to keep this one close in my view.
Anastasija Sevastova vs Elsa Jacquemot H2H – Stat of the Match
No prior meeting between these two. It’s understandable with Sevastova having played so little and when she was playing, Jacquemot was only on the ITF circuit (she still is more often than not).
In terms of elo ratings, Sevastova hasn’t played enough in the last year to have one, but Jacquemot’s raw elo on hard courts is under 1,500, which isn’t great, and it’s below her overall elo rating, which is also an indicator that she has fared better on other surfaces (not surprising since her game suits clay courts and that’s where she’s most comfortable).
