She is now ranked 8th in the Women’s Strawweight division with a 7-3 record since joining the UFC back in 2018. Mackenzie Dern is a good fighter, don’t get me wrong, I am well aware of her qualities, but also her flaws. For one, Dern is a world-class grappler with a black belt in BJJ as well as numerous medals in prestigious world competitions like ADCC, the World Cup and more. However, she is still not a good offensive grappler, averaging just 0.61 takedowns per 15 and a takedown accuracy of just 11%. This is definitely not going to cut it against a fighter like Hill.
Angela Hill is an experienced fighter with a total of 27 MMA fights under her belt. Granted, that 15-12 record is nothing to write home about, but she is on a 2-fight winning streak and coming off a dominant performance. The momentum is definitely on her side but it’s not just that. Hill is mostly known for her striking, averaging 5.68 strikes per minute and a takedown defence of 77%.
