Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Best Bet: Monday, January 30th

The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets are each struggling to find points lately, but the home team has dominated the series in recent years. The Jets have taken seven wins from the last eight meetings between the two organizations while earning points from every game during that span.

This is the only hockey game on the schedule for Monday, and this week features a light docket as we approach the NHL All-Star game next weekend. Our resident pucks pundit Ej Garr has found another plus-money offer to put on the table, so have a seat and get ready to eat!

Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Preview

January 31, 01:00 (UK time)

The Jets have won 7 of the last 8 meetings with St. Louis dating back to the 2020 campaign, and the one loss they suffered came in overtime which still earned Winnipeg a point from the contest.

One thing both teams are dealing with right now is picking up any type of points, as the Jets have lost their last 3 games while the Blues have suffered defeat the last 4 times they’ve taken the ice. As we look over the Blues’ schedule during this 4-game slide, they are losing to bad hockey teams such as Buffalo, Chicago, and Arizona, all of which are on the outside of the playoff picture.

Marathon is featuring a combination bet that has my attention because of the line shown on the prop. Both Teams to Score + Winnipeg to win the game is listed at 2.07, and I certainly don’t expect either of the two goalkeepers to get in our way.

Jordan Binnington and Connor Hellebuyck are the expected starters between the pipes, and both of them are struggling to match the team’s run of poor results. Hellebuyck has lost 5 of his last 6 outings, and the 4 – 0 loss to Philly last time out makes their 4th ranking in goals allowed look pointless. You know me and how I put little stock in the rankings, and I see none of that as a useful tool because both teams are playing so poorly at the moment. What they did in November and October means nothing because we are about to hit February.

Jordan Binnington has also been a sieve lately, and that 3.28 GAA tells a bit about that story, as he is allowing 3.4 goals a game over his last 10 outings. I have zero faith that he and Hellebuyck can keep a clean sheet, and if any team is winning this game, it will be the Jets.

Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Best Bet

Instead of settling on a play on the total or handicap, let’s be sure to start the week with a winner playing the combo I mentioned. At 2.07, the value is there, and all we need is a 2 – 1 Jets win to cash the ticket. That sounds feasible to me, so let’s make it the best bet for the only game of the night on the ice.

  • Selection: Both Teams to Score + Winnipeg Winner
  • Best odds: 2.07 (Marathon)
  • Stakes: 4/10

Odds as of 9:00 am January 30, 2023. Odds may now differ.
