FLORIDA PANTHERS VS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS BEST BET: SATURDAY, JUNE 10th

The Florida Panthers have picked up their first Stanley Cup win and the finals just became a lot more interesting. Still, with a 2 – 1 series lead, the Vegas Golden Knights blew a third-period advantage and a streak of 17 straight playoff wins with one fame to play came to a halt. Our resident pucks expert Ej Garr didn’t make the right call for Game 3, so let’s see what he has in store to make up for it!

Florida Panthers vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview

June 11, 01:07 (UK time)

Game 3 was an exciting affair in the Sunshine State, as an extra frame of hockey was needed to decide the winner of the match. Florida has now clawed their back into the Stanley Cup Finals but the Knights still carry a 2 – 1 series lead into Saturday’s Game 5 in Florida.

Both teams scored in the first period which left both teams facing a 1 – 1 score to begin period 2, and the Knights’ special teams came through in a big way. After Florida opened the game with an early first-period goal, each of the next two goals that were scored came from the Vegas power play

Special teams have been the story of the Stanley Cup Finals, and the Knights have certainly had the edge in that category. Jonathan Marchessault scored the first Vegas Golden Knights goal in Game 1 on a power play, he scored the first goal of Game 2 on a power play, and he scored the only goal in the second period of Game 3 which came on the man advantage.

The stats started pouring in on the screen as the third period got underway, and none of it was good news for the Florida Panthers. Vegas had won 17 straight games in the post-season when leading after two periods, and they were up 2 – 1 going to the third period in Game 3 with the Panthers down 0 – 2 in the series already.

Oh, by the way, Marchessault’s power-play goals in the first three games of the Stanley Cup Finals made him the first player to accomplish that feat since 1969. Dick Duff of the Montreal Canadiens pulled it off that year, and might I add that was the year I was born! That means it happened a long damn time ago! HA! Vegas also became the first team with 2 PP Goals in three consecutive games of the Stanley Cup Finals since the 1980 Islanders. The Knights began the third period of Game 3 on the man advantage, but they were unable to convert it into a 2-goal lead.

There was a little scare for the Panther faithful early in the game when Brady Tkachuk took a big hit and had to leave the game. He eventually came out for the second period and was apparently good enough to get back on the ice and finish the game. The Panthers shuffled up their line shifts throughout the game after the short absence from Tkachuk, and maybe that was why they seemed to have no flow to their game.

Florida had held the Knights to only one shot on goal through the first 11 minutes of Game 3, but the Panthers only managed to put up 15 shots with 14 minutes left to play in the entire game. Jack Eichel committed a hooking penalty for the Knights not a minute later and that ended up being another wasted opportunity for Florida which were 0 – 5 playing up a man.

Brady Tkachuk came through in a big way to level the score at 2 – 2 with just 2:13 remaining in regulation time, and the Florida net was empty at the time of the goal. Overtime was needed to decide Game 3, but with 11 seconds left in the game the Panthers committed yet another penalty.

Vegas let 11 seconds roll off the regulation clock and both teams went back to their locker rooms to assess the situation headed to the extra frame. That left Vegas with 1:49 of power play time to start the overtime period but the Panthers killed off the man advantage and the game carried on.

Florida scored the game-winning goal less than 5 minutes into overtime and the Florida fans went nuts when Carter Verheaghe ripped a shot past Adin Hill. Now, we have ourselves a series!

Florida Panthers vs Vegas Golden Knights Best Bet

I am going back to the well and suggesting that we will see another 1 – 1 opening stanza of Game 4. 1xBet is featuring odds of 2.70 for the prospect that both teams will score in the first period, and that type of action suits me just fine.

  • Selection: Both Teams To Score in the First Period
  • Best odds: 2.70 (1xBet)
  • Stakes 4/10

Odds as of 9:00 am June 10, 2023. Odds may now differ.
