The Seattle Kraken will be playing the third match of their 3-game home stand on Wednesday as they welcome the St. Louis Blues to the Emerald City. Seattle will be hoping to turn around the home stand that has produced a pair of losses allowing 5 goals in both affairs. St. Louis looked great to open their campaign with a 5 – 2 win the other night against Columbus, and here they are favoured to win their first road game of the campaign. The Blues jumped out to a 1 – 0 lead in the 1st period scoring a power play goal to open the ledger after P. Buchnevich broke the ice if you will.
St. Louis had two more opportunities with a man advantage during the game, but they were unable to find twine going 1 for 3 with the PP for the night. The Blues killed both of their penalty situations while Jordan Binnington held Columbus to 2 goals. Binnington is expected to start tonight’s affair again from all indications, and he should be happy to have the opportunity.
Vladi Tarasenko scored the first goal of the second period to make it 2 – 0, and he netted the final goal of the night to make it 5 – 2 sealing the win for the Blues to open the campaign. St. Louis scored all three 3rd period goals turning a close game into a runaway on paper and now they get a sleepless in Seattle team to enjoy playing against.
Seattle looks like a mirror image of the team they were last year, giving up goals and not being able to counter enough in response to making up the difference. That was the story of the Kraken 2021 campaign, and so far it looks like a familiar book is being written in 2022.
Vegas and Carolina have each tallied 5 goals in the first two home games that Seattle has played in this home stand, and I don’t see why the Blues can’t replicate that number. The Blues certainly didn’t look offensively challenged to open the campaign, and I am simply hoping they stay in scoring mode as they begin a 3-game roadie.
St. Louis will pack their gear and head up North to face Edmonton and Winnipeg after this affair, and that Oilers game might so be worth watching if you like to see goals being scored.

This is a 4 – 4 game and it might take some extra hockey to decide a winner. I don’t think it will be close, and I am settling for the 6 here and paying the marginal juice to have it with OT Included. Just in case it is a 3 – 2 game late and it takes an empty net to find the 6th goal, it is okay to not take risks early in the campaign to cash tickets or push them if need be.
