NHL Predictions for Tuesday, October 31: 4.39 Ticket for Halloween
It’s a light schedule in the NHL on Tuesday night, as only two games appear on the Halloween slate. Our resident pucks pundit Ej Garr is offering plays from both games and if played in a combo the odds reach 4.39. With a dog and a total in mind, Ej has both of these games covered like a blanket, so let’s hit the ice!

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS VS LOS ANGELES KINGS: ROAD DOGS BARKING LOUD
The Maple Leafs will play host to the LA Kings, and the one thing that the road team has done well to start the new campaign is win away from home. Los Angeles is sporting a perfect 3 – 0 record in their travels, and I am expecting them to come away with two points tonight on the road.
Not only have the Kings won all three of their road games, but they have been finding the net early and often in those outings. After dumping 5 goals on Winnipeg in their first road game of the season, the Kings smashed out 7 more tallies against Minnesota before their most recent win in Arizona, 5 – 4.
I would say that 17 goals in three games looks pretty good from where I sit, and I do not think that the Leafs will have the ability to slow them down at all tonight. The Kings had won four of their last five games until their most recent outing against Vegas three days ago. The Knights found a 4 – 3 shootout win but LA still took a point from the defending Stanley Cup champs.
They almost didn’t secure that point until the final minute of the game when Drew Doughty scored to level the game at 3 – 3 to send the match into overtime. The Kings outshot Vegas 39 – 30 but they did indeed blow the early 2 – 0 lead only to give up the next 3 goals to the Knights before Doughty tied it late.
Toronto is finally returning home after a 5-game road trip in which they did win 3 of those affairs, and they scored exactly 4 goals in each of those wins. The problem for the Leafs headed into this game is that their defense is a mess, ranking 26th in the entire NHL allowing 3.5 goals per game. Bring in the #1 offense in the Kings, and that spells trouble for the home team!
Give me the Kings and give me the road dog because I am a big fan of plus-money especially when I think the Kings are the better team anyway.
VANCOUVER CANUCKS VS NASHVILLE PREDATORS: GOALS AT ROGERS ARENA
I almost wanted to go double-dog tonight, but while the Kings are playing well away from home, the Predators simply are not. Even though the damn Predators beat my Rangers in their most recent away game, Nashville had lost 9 of their last 10 road games dating back to last year before that win.
Nashville lost their first two road games this season before that win against New York, but I cannot invest my hard-earned money in Nashville when they hit the road. I’d rather be the guy who expects some goal-scoring to take place, and all the line setters are asking for is a straight 6 on the total.
The Canucks have played eight games thus far, and we have seen five of those affairs with at least seven goals scored. I definitely notice that Nashville isn’t exactly an Over team yet, as only three of their eight games have had six or more goals scored, but this game is about matchups, and I like the recent history these two have against each other.
The last eight times that these two teams have played in Vancouver, the Over has hit on seven of those outings, and even though that’s just history, I can see a 3 – 3 game taking place here on Tuesday night.
Juuse Saros is sporting a lovely 2.49 GAA, and Thatcher Demko has an even more impressive GAA with his 1.91 posted. Both of those averages will go up a bit tonight, and these teams already know what the other is all about. Nashville and Vancouver just met on the 24th, and the Canucks earned a 3 – 2 win in Nashville.
What was amazing about that result is that it was 3 – 2 at the 9:18 mark of the second period, and neither team scored again. I cannot remember for the life of me seeing 5 goals scored in 29 minutes and then not having one more goal scored throughout the rest of the game. If I am being honest, I had that Over posted on my discord channel for folks there who get my betting advice, and we are all dumbfounded that the game ended 3 – 2 after such a hot start.
This time around, I don’t foresee that happening again, not that I saw it coming then either, HA!
Vancouver has played three home games, and two of the three have gone over the total. I think we all were shocked when the Nucks dumped a snowman on Edmonton to open the season at home, and now they have 16 goals scored in this building in 3 games played here at Rogers Arena. Let’s hope that they don’t get stuck on 3 – 2 again this time around and that the sixth goal finds the net for us, especially when we have it in a combo. Let it be 4 – 2 if need be so we can push that action, as the 2.30 with the Kings will still offer a decent return on our investment.
