NHL Picks for Wednesday, November 22nd: NHL Parlay Picks at 9.14 odds
After belting out a perfect 3 – 0 with his Monday Night NHL Parlay, Ej is at it again on Wednesday night after the entire league had Tuesday off. We have 14 NHL games being played on the eve of Thanksgiving, which means there are plenty of pucks to drop and even more opportunities to make the dough!
Ej just got on the Zamboni to clean the ice, so let’s lace up the skates and check the line setters into the boards!

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS VS NY ISLANDERS: ROAD TEAM ON A 5-GAME HEATER
Let’s start this show with an underdog, shall we? I see that the Islanders are listed as significant favourites for this game, and just because they are home it doesn’t make me think they can take out Philly on Wednesday.
The Flyers are playing the best hockey they’ve played in what seems like 3 years, and that’s because it’s been about that long since they won five straight games. We all know that the Flyers have been a great fade in recent years but it looks like John Tortorella has his team in the right place.
Torts has had his fair share of success and a good amount of failure from his coaching career, and after taking over in Philly last year he has now gotten his players to respond. The Flyers have finished no better than 6th place in their division over the last 3 years, and all of that has changed in 2023.
The Flyers are only four points behind the first-place Rangers in the Metropolitan Division table entering the night, and I suspect that they will get two points closer to the Blue Shirts with a win over the Islanders on Wednesday night. They’ll get a crack at the Rangers on Black Friday, and they will be playing this Islanders team again on Saturday to finish the week.
The Islanders have played three straight games that have needed extra time to produce a winner, and the last time they took the ice against Calgary they escaped with a 5 – 4 shootout win over the Flames.
For me, I just don’t think that the Islanders deserve to be so highly-priced in this spot while the Flyers are looking to win their sixth straight game. At 2.40, that has gladly put this play in this parlay and we love the plus-money value that comes with it. This play on top of the other two totals I am suggesting will boost our odds tremendously, so expect the Flyers to win this game even if it does take some extra hockey to get there.
NASHVILLE PREDATORS VS CALGARY FLAMES: ANOTHER HIGH-SCORING AFFAIR
I just predicted the exact score for the Flames game on Monday night and a 4 – 3 win against Seattle was the perfect way to end our night. Not ironically, the Predators were also involved with my Monday Night NHL Parlay and they also flew over the total against the Rangers. I’ll get to that in a minute, but what a third period we just saw from this Calgary team on Monday.
Calgary took a 2 – 1 lead into the second period against Seattle, but the Kraken scored twice in the frame to take a 3 – 2 lead to the third period. Calgary scored the only goal of the final stanza to force overtime, but they only allowed a total of 3 shots to Seattle on the road. They went on to win the game after Rasmus Anderson sent the Seattle crowd home with only a point to show for their efforts.
Both of these organizations are struggling to find any consistency this season, as they both have only 7 wins to show for the season thus far. Calgary and Nashville just recently met on November 7, and the Flames earned a 4 – 2 home win while outshooting the Preds 39 – 18 on that night.
I expect a big home win for Nashville this time around, however, and the momentum from their last game is why. Nashville was down 3 – 2 to the Avalanche on Monday night, and just when it looked like Colorado was taking two points the Predators responded in a big way. Nashville scored at the 19.22 mark to tie the game at 3 – 3, and then 16 seconds later they scooped up the win, 4 – 3.
I expect another thriller here with Nashville winning this game 4 – 3, so play it accordingly. Nashville is only listed at 1.91 to win this game at home, and that is a fine offer to take advantage of along with this total.
DALLAS STARS VS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS: A LONE STAR STATE SHOWDOWN
The Dallas Stars will take on the Knights at home on Wednesday night, and what a resounding win the home team came up against the Blue Shirts on Monday. The Rangers jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead, and then the Stars said ENOUGH!
Dallas scored the next 6 goals en route to a 6 – 3 win over New York, and that was also part of our NHL Monday Night Parlay. I am not about to shy away from another total with Dallas after seeing all of that happen with my own eyes because you know I don’t miss Ranger games.
The Stars and Knights opened the season against each other on October 17, and after a 4 – 2 playoff series that went to the Knights last season, they continued to rub it in with a 3 – 2 win on opening day this year.
This is a meeting between two teams currently leading their respective divisions in the Western Conference and combined they have tallied 128 goals. Despite that, the Vegas totals have been a tough call to make this year, as they are 8 – 11 O/U.
Vegas just got completely shut out by the Penguins the last time they took the ice, and that came after a loss to those high-flying Flyers in the previous game. I expect their lack of success on offence lately to turn around tonight with a 3 – 3 game that needs overtime to decide a winner.
That’s right, I am calling for overtime here, and as soon as that 3 – 3 score hits the board we have the golden ticket in our pockets! Dallas hasn’t allowed less than 3 goals in any of their last 4 matches, and I don’t expect that to change with Vegas in town even if they are struggling to score this week.
