DETROIT RED WINGS VS SAN JOSE SHARKS: ROAD TEAM OUT FOR MORE
SURPRISE #1 – Le Shark to keep it close and cover the +1.5 Handicap!
San Jose is in the midst of a 6-game road trip, and this game is the fifth of six having one game to come in Las Vegas on Sunday. Don’t get lost in the records for both of these teams, as it is rather obvious that San Jose is the bottom-feeder of the Pacific Division table, and the Red Wings are fighting the Bruins for the top spot in the Atlantic Division standings.
This is not the time to look at the records for these two teams because the Sharks are playing some damn good hockey lately. Yes, they are still only 7 – 17 – 0 – 2, but let’s look at what is happening now.
San Jose has won four of their last six games, and one of those losses was a 6 – 5 affair against the New York Rangers. Wins over Vancouver, New Jersey, Washington, and the Islanders have given this team renewed confidence, and we don’t even need the Sharks to win this game to cash this ticket. Hell, they could lose another 1-goal game, which would suit us just fine too!
Sharks leading points-getter Tomas Hertl is fresh off scoring a hat-trick against the Islanders, and while he still only has 21 points for the campaign, the Sharks are growing together and starting to feel better about themselves during this road trip.
Detroit has won six of their last seven games, so they are playing their best hockey now. This game is a clash of two young teams that will give us a fantastic game to watch, and I see another tightly contested game coming our way tonight.
VANCOUVER CANUCKS VS MINNESOTA WILD: MORE DOMINANCE, PLEASE!
This second tip for the NHL Thursday Night Parlay came to me as soon as I noticed one little fact, and this may come as a bit of a surprise too. The head-to-head numbers are influencing me a ton in this spot, and the line is also talking to me.
First of all, the last six times these two teams have played each other, the Wild came away with two points and a victory. Dating black to the pandemic season, Minnesota has owned the Canucks, and yes, Vancouver is playing much better hockey than they have in recent years, but I can’t get past the domination the Wild have had against them.
Secondly, seeing Vancouver listed as home favourites, I am not buying a lick of that noise nor am I paying any juice for a team that just gave up 6 goals to New Jersey last time on the ice. Vancouver has lost two of their last three home games, and as I just mentioned one of those losses came to the Sharks during their road trip.
All I can envision here is a 5 – 4 win for the road team, and at 2.10 I am happy that the Wild have continued to find ways to beat Vancouver. The Canucks offense is still among the lead leaders averaging 3.88 goals per game, but lately, they have been giving up entirely too many goals to keep themselves in games.
I think this will also be a high-scoring game with plenty of pucks in the net, so think about tossing this Over onto your card along with the Wild Moneyline to win on the road.
SEATTLE KRAKEN VS NEW JERSEY DEVILS: HORNS AND SIRENS AND CHEERING, OH MY!
No surprise here, baby! Goals are on my mind for this contest, and I expect no less than 9 goals to be scored in the Emerald City. I could count how many times I have suggested either a Devils total or a Kraken total to go Over the total, and now I get them both on the same ice tonight.
Eight of the last ten New Jersy games have flown over the total, and it has become extremely easy to expect a 4 – 3 game whenever Seattle takes the ice this season.
Seattle is undoubtedly glad to be back home after a 0 – 4 road trip that has led to a 5-game losing streak overall. These two teams have met four times since Seattle joined the NHL, and the home team has earned a win in each of those meetings. New Jersey is listed as a considerable favourite to win this game on the road, but I don’t want to bother investing in a side when we have a relatively nice price on the Over 6.5. At 1.91, I would much rather settle for the total to fly over, and you might want to peek at Both Teams to Score in the opening frame, I am seeing 2.40 for that option, and I expect no less than 1 – 1 to start the game.
I love those props this season, and I can’t even tell you how many of them I have put on my board this year. Goals have been coming early this campaign, and if you watch a lot of hockey as I do, you notice things like that. A 1 – 1 game after the first period is seemingly coming in like clockwork, and I think that will launch us right past the total when the final horn sounds.
Let’s expect another 4 – 3 game to transpire here, at least, and that will complete the night with a sweet parlay at 8.01 in our pockets!
