NHL Picks for Monday, December 4: 8.65 Parlay for Monday Night

NHL Picks for Monday, December 4: 8.65 Parlay for Monday Night
IMAGO / USA TODAY Network Montreal Canadiens goalie Jake Allen (34) tracks the puck against the Detroit Red Wings during the second period at Bell Centre.

It’s time to take the ice and check home a lovely 3-Game NHL Monday Night Parlay, so our resident pucks pundit Ej Garr is just the guy to pass the puck to so he can score! With a trio of hockey games covered to start the week, Ej is wondering if there can be a snowman sighting in the Sunshine State as the Holidays are around the corner.

With two of the six games on the NHL Monday night schedule taking us to Canada, Ej picks out a pair of winners from each of those affairs in the Great North to complete the night.

NHL Monday Night Parlay Odds: 8.65

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING VS DALLAS STARS: DO SNOWMEN EXIST IN FLORIDA?

The first puck of the night will drop in Tampa, Florida, and even though the weather forecast is about 21 C* in the Sunshine State, a snowman can still be built! One of my favourite terms for when a team scores 8 goals is ‘putting up a snowman’, and I don’t know where you were this past Saturday but the Stars were busy beating the snot out of this Lightning team!

So, we change venues and lace them up again, and after an 8 – 1 thrashing of the Lightning just two days ago the home team has to figure out a way not to get humiliated again tonight.

If you recall months ago when the season started, I told you that we are going be seeing a ton of Tampa Bay Overs this season with their main goaltender out of the mix, and all that’s happened is goals, goals, and more goals in the Tampa net this year.

If San Jose weren’t such a sieve themselves (96), the 93 goals allowed would easily lead the NHL in pucks found in the net this season, and after dishout out a snowman to Dallas just two days ago I expect more of the same to transpire tonight.

Both Teams to Score in the 1st Period … YES, PLEASE at 2.50! That will only take us about 8 minutes to hit on Monday night, so along with this total you must make that bet. I honestly think that both teams will score in all three periods of this game, and there alone is the 3 – 3 we need to cash the Over 6.5. At 2.00 and even money, I find that as a great way to start the night, so let’s move to Canada for the next two options.

WINNIPEG JETS VS CAROLINA HURRICANES: ROAD TEAM IN LINE FOR THE DUB

Bet365 isn’t leaving us a lot of room on this road favourite, but at 1.87 I can still find the value in this tip as part of the NHL Monday Night Parlay! Since I am about to offer the Habs at 2,35 in Montreal next, I like one home team to win and one road team to win in the Great White North tonight.

Carolina is my road team in that statement, as I simply see them having the ability to score as Winnipeg is still struggling to put pucks behind goalkeepers. The Jets haven’t scored more than 3 goals in any of their last 6 games, and keeping up the Canes’ offense is no picnic!

Carolina hasn’t been held to less than 4 goals in either of their last 3 games and their 34.2 shots per game lead the NHL. The Canes are gearing up for a 6-game road trip that starts tonight in Winnipeg, and 5 of those 6 games will be played in Canada before wrapping up in Detroit on December 14.

I like the fact that the trip is just starting and the Canes are playing well at the moment. They will need to ride that momentum as far as possible with trips to Edmonton and Calgary on deck, and this is certainly the most winnable game they will get.

Because the Jets struggle to score, I think the Canes will outduel them and outlast them on Monday night, so expect a road win for the Canes to start the road trip/

MONTREAL CANADIENS VS SEATTLE KRAKEN: A BIG BARK FOR THE HOME DOG

Does anyone want to leave me a note at the bottom of the article and tell me why you would pay 1.65 for Seattle at the moment? On the road?!

To me, a team has to be playing some damn good hockey to go on the road and deserve that kind of line, and the Kraken simply aren’t that team right now. Grubauer and Allen are both a disaster between the pipes and they are listed as the expected starting netminders in Montreal tonight. With that being a wash, I expect this to also be a high-scoring affair that ends with the home team coming away with two points.

At 2.35, I see all of the value in the Habs at home, and none of it with Seattle. Montreal just lost a tightly contested overtime game to Detroit, 5 – 4, and this road trip has been an utter mess! Seattle is 0 – 3 on this 4-game road trip, and I believe that they are about to go winless on this trip with another loss coming tonight.

After being held without a single goal against Ottawa last time on the ice, the Kraken offence is simply not up to snuff, and playing another road game after losing the first three doesn’t exactly give this Kraken team a lick of confidence to hang on to.

To boost this NHL Monday Night Parlay in style, or even if you play it on its own, the Habs as a home dog suits me perfectly.

  • Selection: Montreal Canadiens Moneyline
  • Best Odds: 2.35
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stakes: 4/10
