NY RANGERS VS ANAHEIM DUCKS AT MSG: A GARDEN PARTY IN NYC

I don’t mind paying the marginal juice at 1.87 to have this straight 6 on the total to go Over in this spot, and considering I have a 2.00 and 2.80 coming up next I don’t feel an ounce of guilt about it either, HA!

I think we’re all clear around here that I don’t miss NY Ranger games being from New York, and I will admit that I handed out the Over the other night against Toronto, and boy, did that pour in! Toronto lit up Igor Shesterkin, and I still can’t believe that he didn’t get pulled from the goal crease in the first period.

Toronto jumped out to a 4 – 1 lead in about 15 minutes, but my Blue Shirts dominated the second period to reduce the lead to 4 – 3 going to the game’s final frame. That’s when the wheels fell off again for the New Yorkers as the Leafs shutout the Rangers winning the third period 3 – 0 and the game, 7 – 3

First of all, OUCH BABE! I can only compare that to a football match in the UK where your club went down 3 – 0 in the first half, and then they scored twice early in the second half to give you hope at 3 – 2. The other side scored twice again, and all of that hope went poof!

Anyway, the Rangers have now lost three of their last four games, and this comes after not having lost back-to-back games all season until this past week. Are the wheels falling off?

Watching the players’ reactions to those final three goals against Toronto surely showed frustration, but luckily, the Ducks are in town tonight and there is no better formula to get some confidence back than a beatdown to the Ducks.

Anaheim has lost 12 of their last 13 games, and that isn’t a streak it is just the fact that they have a young team that isn’t ready to compete in the NHL. Sure, moments of success have been spotted and there is some talent in Anaheim, but this run of results either has to get fixed or some major changes have to be made.

Greg Cronin just took over behind the bench for the Ducks this past June, and no organization wants to make wholesale changes too early in a tenure but this is getting bad. I expect a 5 – 2 Rangers win tonight, so think about that handicap and the Blue Shirts team total tonight for extra action!

DALLAS STARS VS OTTAWA SENATORS IN TEXAS: A SHOOTOUT AT THE OK CORRAL

It’s really getting hard for me to resist putting Dallas Overs on the board lately, and if you have made that play in their last four games, you are a perfect 4 – 0! There have been nine goals scored in three of the last four Dallas Stars affairs, and Vegas handed the home team a 6 – 1 beatdown in between all of that.

Well, it may not be a trend as much as something that just seems to keep happening, so this Over 6.5 is going to deserve the action at 2.00.

Let me also point out that seven of the last nine Dallas games have seen no less than seven pucks finding glory, although this is the first time these two are playing each other this season. They won’t see each other again until late February to complete the home and home East vs West stuff.

The other advantage that Dallas will have here is that they are well-rested and waiting for the Senators to arrive, having not played since December 11 in a game that ended with a resounding victory over the Red Wings, 6 – 3. The Sens are on a back-to-back scenario after facing St. Louis last night, and after losing to the Blues Ottawa has now lost three of their last four games.

I also think that the 3.36 GPG stat is misleading with Ottawa. This team is hit or miss every night, so it’s either pick up 6 or 6 goals or get shut down completely. The Senators are the Jekyll and Hyde of the NHL, HA!

Dallas is once again among the top 5 of the rankings when it comes to killing penalties, as they kill 88.67% of their opponents’ chances with the man advantage. Outside of Brady Tkachuk, no other Senators player has tallied double-digit goals this season, which is also amazing about that 3.36 GPG stat. Dallas will undoubtedly do their best to keep Ottawa off the Power Play, but I still think this is a 3 – 3 game waiting to happen. Dallas is also suspect on defense all too often, and that is why their total is indeed 4 – 0 to the Over right now. Expect more twine to be found in the Lone Star State on Friday night.

ARIZONA COYOTES VS SAN JOSE SHARKS IN TEMPE: A SHARK SIGHTING IN THE DESERT?

It’s time! You have been hearing talk about San Jose for the past couple of weeks, and they always seem to be playing on days I have articles going up. Well, here we are again, and I am done playing around now.

I have given out the Sharks +1.5, and I told you in their game against Winnipeg that they would be showing up again… To the tune of a 2 – 1 road win! I missed that total that night, but what a team effort that was against a team that is playing rather well lately as the Jets are.

First of all, this line is also a big part of this play because what the hell is Arizona doing favoured at 1.48?! I don’t even understand how the line setters could set that price so high because the Sharks are playing some decent hockey and they have a damn good chance to win this game tonight.

I am putting my own money on the fact that the Sharks can pull off an upset against the Coyotes, and I think it is just a culmination of this hockey team starting to get each other. Yes, it has taken a couple of months, and there is so much work left to do, but I see the better team on the away side of the ice tonight, and 2.80 is a smashing way to boost this Trixie to over 10.00 odds!

If you are a safety net kind of bettor, which I certainly am, I would also just suggest the +1 handicap, so a one-goal game just pushes the action. I am never one to shy away from a push and the 2.10 offer on the +1 sure seems fair to me.

For the combo, the Sharks Moneyline at 2.80 is certainly worth the boost to the payout odds.
