Florida Panthers vs Toronto Maple Leafs: CATS AND LEAFS WILL LIGHT THE LAMP
A dozen hockey games are being played on Thursday night in the NHL, and four of those matches start at midnight in the UK. If there is one match in which I expect to see a good bit of scoring, I have to start with one of the games coming from the Sunshine State between the Panthers and Maple Leafs.
The Panthers and Leafs total is a straight 7 at a handful of bookmaker sites, as the line setters aren’t even giving anyone a good line on 6.5s anymore. We are seeing more 7s on totals early in the campaign because we all know what happened last year, especially if you followed me here at Bettingexpert. I was constantly pointing people to totals flying over the number, and we were still lucky enough to be getting 6.5s until the oddsmakers caught on late in the year.
In this case, Bet365 is offering 2.05 on the Over 7, and that seems fair enough to me because I don’t even think they will get stuck at 3 – 3 in this game. Even if you do have to settle for the Over 7, no harm, no foul, and we would just push that action and walk away to bet another day
While I am okay with that because a push is always better than a loss to me, the Leafs are coming off a massively disappointing effort after looking so incredible to start the campaign. Toronto had scored 13 goals in thrift first two wins of 2023, and then the 4 – 1 flop against Chicago to finish the 3-game home stand had all of us shaking our heads.
I expect that with the Panthers across the ice tonight, the Leafs will come out shooting rubber at Samsonov, and the Cats will be doing the same because they know that Toronto has 5 straight road games in front of them. Following up on an ugly loss, I do not doubt that the Leafs will try to get that ugly taste out of their mouths and get back to being aggressive to start this game. Both Teams to Score in the First Period is listed at 2.25 at most major bookmakers, so take advantage of that offer tonight along with the Over 7 as the main bet of the match.
Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars: DUCKS TO KEEP IT CLOSE IN DALLAS
All right, call me convinced after seeing a couple of things develop through the first two games of the new season. Dallas has played a pair of tight games that came down to shootouts needed to decide who takes the second point from the games between St. Louis and Vegas.
Dallas won that second point in the shootout against the Blues and failed to earn that second point against Vegas in that shootout, so until I see something change, I am a creature of habit. I hate seeing a trend start to happen and miss it until it’s passed.
Right now, the Stars seem to be playing their first two opponents close to the vest, and the Ducks just walloped a pretty damn good Hurricanes team on their last skate, a 6 – 3 win. Are You going to try to convince me that the Ducks just have no chance to compete with the mighty Stars tonight?
Yeah, no! Sorry, I do think we will see another game that comes down to the third period, and unless the empty-netter gets us late Can I tell you that I wish I had 1xBet as a book in the United States?
Here, I wish we had 1xBet in America!
That damn book is putting out a 5.06 offer on the Draw in Regulation Time, or, of course, the ‘Will the Game go into Overtime’ prop. Yes, please! Imagine if Dallas plays their first three games that need a shootout and/or overtime to decide the ultimate winner of the game.
Vision seen, chance worth taking if you have that incredible of a line, as Bet365 only issues a 4.50 on that same prop bet. That’s a pretty big reduction in value, but uh, hello! It’s still 4.50 for it to happen so splash the pot on that if you have the room for it in your bankroll. .
Regardless, the +1.5 handicap is fair enough to play straight or include in this 7.51 3-game parlay with my other two offers posted tonight. I want some big props if you hit that Overtime bet!!
San Jose Sharks vs Boston Bruins: SHARKS AND BRUINS SOUND THE HORNS
If you are a Pinnacle user, they are offering 1.91 for this Over 6 with overtime included, and Bet365 is selling us a little short with a 1.85 offer on their board of odds. First of all, six? I will be honest about the fact that I own a Discord channel as my editors are aware, and I shared the Sharks / Hurricanes total with my friends, and that came in easily for us.
I watched most of that game on Tuesday night, and eventually the Canes just continued to pour shots on goal while earning 2-points and a win, 6 – 3 in San Jose. The Canes outshot the Sharks 42 – 16, and even though Boston’s offense hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders yet, I expect that to change tonight.
Yes, I mentioned in my pre-season NHL Futures post here at Bettingexpert that the loss of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to retirement might have an impact on the Bruins offense, and they have only scored 3 goals twice, in the form of 3 – 1 and 3 – 2 wins to start 2023.
Let’s not lose track of the fact the Bruins put up a prolific campaign last year even though the last thing we remember is the first-round flop in the playoffs to Florida.
So, I do think the hangover from last year and a couple of big-name losses have impacted the Bruins, but a trip to San Jose should have 88 and 63 licking their chops. David Pastrnak has scored 3 of the team’s six goals thus far through two games, and Brad Marchand has yet to get his name on the scoresheet besides the pair of helpers to open the campaign.
I foresee them both scoring twice as everyone has set the blueprint for beating the Skarks… Shoot the puck early and often and do your job on the defensive side of the puck. Linus Ullmark earned the opening night 3 – 1 win for the B’s and he sat out of the last game against Nashville, so he is fresher than a daisy.
This total is my full expectation that Boston will score 5 of those goals, and when the Sharks put that second puck past Ullmark we’ll have our 7 goals in the books to cash the ticket outright on the straight 6 offer.
