NHL Hockey Friday Best Bets: Friday, April 28th

After calling on the Kraken to find a big road win in Denver on Wednesday with extreme odds in our favour, our resident hockey expert Ej Garr has two more bets for Friday that are each full of big value. Starting in Minnesota, the Stars have the Wild on the brink of elimination, and after a big game 5 victory in Colorado, the Kraken has the defending Stanley Cup champs on the ropes as well!

Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars Preview

April 29, 02:37 (UK time)

The Stars came away with a resounding Game 5 victory over the Wild in Dallas on Tuesday night, 4 – 0, and now the Stars are one win away from moving on to the next round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. A pair of first-period power-play goals for the Stars set the tone for Game 5 and the Wild never recovered from the deficit as they now face an elimination game at home.

After watching such a futile performance in a big game as it was, I am not convinced that the Wild have enough fight left to offer and it is pointing me to a bet that once again has considerable value behind the offer.

I am giving out similar bets for both games and I will just share with you now that I think Dallas and Seattle are about to close out their first-round series on Wednesday night. That means that I am suggesting we touch on the Stars to win + the Both Teams to Score option that has more value than you can shake a hockey stick at!

Marathon is showing odds of 2.85 for the Stars to win game 6 and I certainly expect Minnesota to go back home and at least find the net once this time. Shutting out an opponent in back-to-back games is no easy task and with their lives on the line, there is no way that the Wild just go away lightly.

The Stars had four different goal-scorers find the net in the 4 – 0 win on Tuesday, and now they have a couple of days to rest up, finish the job, and knock the Wild out of the chase for the Stanley Cup.

Roope Hintz is putting together quite the playoff series against the Wild, having scored a team-leading 4 goals while dishing out 7 dimes to his teammates. The Ace of Spades is representing Finland quite nicely, and he has become the Wild Card in this series carrying the team to victory.

Jason Robertson has been held in check for the most part by the Wild, as he has only produced two goals this series after leading the team in the regular season with 46 tallies along with 63 assists.

Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars Best Bet

I am simply not convinced that Minnesota has enough fight left to give the Stars, but I do think they can each score as Dallas ends this series tonight. With a 3 – 2 road win, the Stars eliminate the Wild from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and we cash a sweet ticket at 2.85 when it happens.

  • Selection: Dallas Stars Win + Both Teams to Score a Goal
  • Best odds: 2.85 (Marathon)
  • Stakes: 4.10

Seattle Kraken vs Colorado Avalanche Preview

April 29, 03:07 (UK time)

Do you like that?! Who called for the Kraken to win game 5 in Denver? That’s right, this guy did and now I believe that the momentum from that win will carry over into tonight’s game at Climate Pledge Arena.

Being the defending Stanley Cup Champions doesn’t mean a damn thing to me because anything that happened last year has zero to do with this campaign. Anyone who is thinking that because the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup last year they couldn’t possibly be knocked out of the first round of this year’s playoffs is simply wrong. It was a great season for Colorado last year and they fourth tooth and nail to win their division title on the final game of the regular season too.

I mentioned in my Wednesday piece that Phil Grubauer has all the motivation in the world to beat Colorado, and it is showing up now. Outside of the game 3 blip that saw Colorado break out for 5 goals, Grubauer has been outstanding between the pipes in this series. Colorado has tossed 159 shots at Grubaruer in this series and his 2.61 GAA average has propelled Seattle to where we are right now which is up 3 – 2 and about to shut the door on Colorado!

As I did with the bet from the first game, I am doing the same for this affair and offering the Seattle Win + Both Teams to Score a Goal. As I have done all season long around here, posting tips with undeniable value has gotten us paid big money and the 3.20 odds on that prop bet suit me just fine.

Seattle is going to close out the Avalanche at home on Friday and all the work that Colorado did to get here will go for naught. Let’s keep in mind what Seattle did down the stretch of the regular season before getting swept by Vegas as the playoffs were looming.

The Kraken may appear as a 7-seed in the Western Conference, but 100 points is not easy to gain and Seattle managed to do just that. There is a brimming confidence about this team heading into Friday night’s game and that is something the Avalanche are lacking.

The Seattle home crowd might cause an earthquake in the Northwest on Friday, and the Kraken players will feed off of that and use it to their advantage to find a big home win and close out Colorado on home ice! I know home ice hasn’t exactly been providing wins around the NHL in these playoffs, but it will surely come in handy tonight.

Seattle Kraken vs Colorado Avalanche Best Bet

Seattle 3 – 2 Avalance. We have seen that result from the last two games and Phil Grubauer is using his motivation perfectly, not getting too high or getting into his own head as a distraction. I don’t have faith that Alex Georgiev can outplay Grubauer at this point, so in my opinion, this series ends tonight!

  • Selection: Seattle Win + Both Teams to Score a Goal
  • Best odds: 3.20 (Marathon)
  • Stakes: 4/10
