Buffalo was in the discussion for a while there, but this current run of 2 wins over their last 9 games has just about done them in. With 72 points, Buffalo is 6 points behind the Pengs and Isles who are both on 78 points as of Thursday night, although the Penguins are playing the Rangers right now as I write this article. You know I am watching that game, come on now!
Anyway, the Flyers have lost 8 of their last 9 games, and if high-scoring matches are your type of game then tune in for this one if you can. Philly has given up 5 goals to 3 of their last 4 opponents, although no one can explain that 1 – 0 loss to Carolina in that span. I was scoreboard-watching and I just couldn’t believe that Carolina couldn’t pull away from the Flyers while everyone else is doing it with ease of late.
I get that the Flyers’ offense can be like watching paint dry because they are simply not in sync and already looking to build on anything for next season to find useful.
The Sabres’ offense is still ranked 3rd in the NHL putting up 3.7 GPG despite the poor run of results at the moment. All I can see is a 5 – 4 game here though, and this line on the Over 7 is so nice I can’t just leave it sitting there without some love.

The same applies here, I mean talk about some sh… uh, horrible hockey this year, these two organizations started to look toward next season at the All-Star break.
Columbus is officially the worst team in the Eastern Conference with 49 points to show for the campaign, and the Ducks have only secured 54 points this year themselves.
Early indications show Lukas Dostal starting in the net for the Ducks, and if we see Johnny Gibson ever teak the ice again we can surely bank on this total to fly in. I watched the Isles break out a 6-goal effort on big Johnny the other night, but Dostal has also lost 6 of his last 7 starts and is also a sieve between the pipes. Dostal has given up at least 3 goals in 9 of his 11 starts this season, His GAA is 3.9 and his opponent is going to be Mike Hutchinson who is an entirely different disaster in his own right.
How about a 4.36 GAA and that ugly .833 save percentage, I mean who the hell signed your contract because they thought you were an NHL-caliber goaltender? The dude has made 3 appearances this year, and his two starts have seen 9 goals find the net behind him.
We have money to make to start the weekend, so we are not playing around with 6 goals or 6.5 goals, and I almost want to be one bold maniac and offer this Over 7.5. I love having big balls but the straight 7 with overtime included still shows a line of 2.32 and 2.28 with most bookmakers Unibet has the best line at 2.32, but overall, I would expect that if you are in the states you would get 2.25, and in Europe, you might see a little better of an offer because you have access to more bookmakers than we do.
Did you happen to catch the San Jose game with Columbus on Tuesday night? My goodness, that game ended 6 – 5 and goals were just being scored in droves. If you look around the landscape of hockey overall this week, the goal-scoring has been insane! I know this because I bet on the Grand Salami every night and I have been playing over for the last 4 nights.
I think we all are expecting teams to tighten up their defensive stats because the playoffs are on the horizon and historically the scoring goes down a bit in late March and early April. Not this year yet, as we are seeing teams be more aggressive now than they already were so we are just seeing crazy scores lately.
How about Florida and Montreal tonight? It was 7 – 3 about 13 minutes into the game, and as I write this it is 9 – 4 going to the third period in Florida right now. Goals are the theme of the week, and I believe it will carry over into the 4 Friday games, so play the Salami over again if you get get a good price for it!
