That’s right, the honorable Mayor of Value City has taken the stand so you may all be seated. It’s time to think dog again, and I am seeing plenty of value behind tailing the Preds in this spot because they have totally dominated the series with New York.
The last 8 times these two teams have met, the Predators have taken two points and come away with the win, as the last time the Islanders beat Nashville was way back in 2017. Way back, baby, 5 years ago it’s been now, and I am calling for that run to continue while the number stretches to 9 straight wins over New York.
First of all, the line is lovely, and it depends on what book you have and what time you’ll get this play in. I see a few sites offering 2.38 for Nashville on the Moneyline, but for the most part, I expect to see 2.30 and 2,25 at the big books that most of us use. I don’t know who owns Coolbet, but they have an offer of 2.41 on the Preds as I put this piece in, but I probably can’t name one person who uses that bookmaker.
Regardless, the value is with Nashville in this spot, and I love the fact that Nashville just seems to find ways to win games vs. New York. I play streaks when they are in the now because I hate seeing runs stretch to 10-12-15 games and wondering how I missed that. So, this is simply just another case of expecting Nashville to get past the Isles again. I don’t need trends, and we all know how both teams are playing lately.
Nashville has won 5 of their last 7 games and has taken points from 6 of those contests. Included in that run is a 5 – 4 win over the Isles on November 17, Nashville stepped on the gas early in that game jumping out to a 3 – 1 first-period lead, and they grabbed a quick second-period goal to extend that lead to 4 – 1. New York pulled the game to 4 – 3, but the Preds denied the comeback and found the win.
I expect Nashville to use the same approach for this outing, and I am backing them to come away with two points and a win, whether it takes the shootout or not.
