New York Islanders vs Calgary Flames Best Bet: Monday, November 7th

Le Flame take to the road on Monday, and it will be the first time this season that Calgary will play a hockey game outside of Canada. After an 8-game home stand that ended with 4 losses, Le Flame is favoured in New York tonight, and that has someone’s attention around here. Our resident puck pundit Ej Garr might have an underdog offered again because he is the Mayor of Value City!

New York Islanders vs Calgary Flames Preview

November 8, 00:00 (UK time)

Favoured? I am flabbergasted to see such a line of about 2.10 with the Islanders at home tonight, especially how Calgary ended that homestand. Who loses 4 straight games at home and then goes on the road and becomes a better hockey team? Meanwhile, the Isles are 4 – 1 at home over their last 5 matches here at UBS Arena, and the last time they were here they only beat the Avalanche, no biggie, pfft!

Let’s just cut to the chase here, as I have zero faith that Calgary is going to get on a plane for New York and fare very well on this trip to the East coast. Le Flame will get to New Jersey tomorrow and have to head to Boston for a Thursday night showdown with the Bruins, and that spells 3 games in 4 days, baby!

So, we hope you enjoyed Canada, because you stunk up the joint to end your homestand, and the line setters are completely drunk! We have a drunken line setters alert, sound the horn again! Favoured? Like, to win the damn hockey game?

Right, here, take your money, get to the window and tell the lad you’d like to place a bet on the Islanders to win the hockey game at 2.10. He or she will tell you to have a nice day, and you can tell them you’ll be back in a few hours so you can hand me my cash, thanks!

I covered one of those Calgary games recently, and as much as it is good to see Kadri and that second line producing points, someone should have told the 1st team to contribute a little too. It was the same story last time out against New Jersey, who handed Le Flame a 4 – 3 loss to end their home stand. The Kadri line again produced 2 of the 3 goals, so who are we counting on to score?

Yeah, the Isles are who we are counting on the score tonight, that’s who. The Islanders had reeled off 5 straight wins before that odd 3 – 0 loss to Detroit last time out. Overall, The Isles have 9 players with 3 tallies to their credit, and yet I love the fact that Matthew Barzal almost leads the team in points.

Barzal hasn’t scored yet, which is amazing considering he has 11 points and all of them are dimes. Speaking of second-line production, well, it’s tough to beat what Brock Nelson Anders Lee is doing together. They are 1 – 2 in team points, which tells us we might see a lot of production from the second lines of both teams tonight.

If you are one of those player prop bettors, you almost have to play Kadri and Nelson to both ends up with 2 points tonight. Their Over 1.5 point total should have a playable line, so think about those on top of the Isles to find a win here tonight.

Also, Barzal was one of about 25 players this weekend that were in a bit of a scrape. Barzal got into it during the Calgary game, and if you watched any NHL this weekend, there is one word to sum it up. FIGHTS! There were some big-time fights all around the league this weekend, and the boys are throwing their bodies around in this year’s version of the NHL.

If you put on any pregame lately, physical hockey and the teams that want to punish you are becoming more commonplace. I love it because the referees are only going to let them get away with so much. We are seeing a lot of powerplays this season too, and that spells scoring! Hockey is the coolest sport on Earth!
