New Jersey Devils vs Colorado Avalanche Best Bet: Friday, October 28th

The defending champs are in the middle of a 4-game roadie, as the Colorado Avalanche looks for a 3rd straight win from the trip that has them on the East coast. Already finding two wins from the first two games on the trip, Colorado will play back-to-back nights facing off with the isles on Saturday before returning home.

New Jersey Devils vs Colorado Avalanche Preview

October 29, 00:00 (UK time)

The Devils will play host to the defending champs on Friday night, as the Avalanche pulls into New Jersey and has already taken two wins from this 4-game road trip. The trip for the Avs started by upsetting Las Vegas while handing them their first campaign loss, and it has taken them back East to my neck of the woods.

I had to sit through the shootout and watch them take out my Rangers on Tuesday night, but hey, we took a point from them so I’ll take that, at least. What a game it was too, as the 2 – 2 regulation draw was the best the offenses could do and it has me thinking we might see something similar tonight.

I am going to be suggesting the regulation time under 6.5 for this game, for the reason that I just watched them play and I see an inflated 6.5 still sitting there at Marathon. This is the regulation timeline and not the OT-included offer, so be sure to know the difference between the two types of wagers. The last thing you need to have is a missed tip because you weren’t sure if you had the right bet placed.

I don’t expect the Avalanche to come out skating hard because they have a game tomorrow against the Islanders. I see the Under 1.5 1st period showing at 2.25, and I am on that like white on rice. I don’t see a high-scoring game, to begin with, and I will need a nice scoreless opening frame to help me get to my under offer.

Alexi Georgiev (4-0-1; 2.56 GAA; 0.921 Save %) is listed as the expected netminder against MacKenzie Blackwood (3-2-0; 2.81 GAA; 0.871 Save %), and that save percentage does concern me a bit. Blackwood has had a few bad games, but over the length of a season every goalkeeper will have those nights.

I am amazed that the Avalanche took my backup goalie and thrust him into the 1st slot as they did. I mean I respect Alexi, but I am still wondering how he will hold up if they do commit to keeping him out there all campaign.

New Jersey Devils vs Colorado Avalanche Best Bet

I expect a low-scoring opening frame and an under to come our way in regulation time. Both lines have plenty of value behind them, and you know that’s the way I like it.

  • Selection: Under 6.5 Goals (Regulation Time)
  • Best odds: 2.00 (BetVictor)
  • Stakes: 4/10
  • Bonus Tip: Under 1.5 1st Period (2.25 Marathon)

Odds as of 9:00 am October 28th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
