Nashville Predators vs San Jose Sharks Best Bet: Friday, October 7th

It’s time to drop the puck and begin the NHL 2022-23 regular season, and we’ve brought in an old-school hockey expert to dismantle the line setters this year. Ej Garr has 25 years of hockey betting knowledge to bring to our readers so buckle up and prepare for his totals throughout the entire campaign.

Nashville and San Jose are opening the regular season with what is officially a home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday in Prague, Czech Republic, at O2 Arena. Are you ready to drop the puck? Let’s get it on!

Nashville Predators vs San Jose Sharks Preview

October 7th, 19:00 (UK time)

Hello again! What you read above is 100% correct as I have been a hockey handicapper for over 25 years, and I consider this my bread-and-butter sport. Anyone who knows me can find that out if you want to take the time to look into my history on the internet as the Rainmaker or just for being me.

It’s time to drop the damn puck, and I say that because it was the name of my hockey podcast that I hosed for 3 years on my Sports Palooza network. What you will also come to learn about me is that I am the king of the Grand Salami! Hockey totals and Ej Garr are like bread and wine, chocolate and peanut butter, bangers and mash.

I am going to be offering a link to my Grand Salami hockey bets all campaign, so anyone interested can access that if you so desire.

All right, now let’s get on the ice since that is out of the way. Did you all happen to take the time to watch the Nashville Predators edition of behind-the-glass on the NHL Network? They did an outstanding piece on the Preds, and one thing I took from it is that Nashville is going to be hitting everything in sight this season. They documented the players’ practices and off-ice sessions leading up to the pre-season opening doubleheader the Preds played against Florida.

After losing the first game on a last-second goal, Nashville came out fired up for the second game of the night, and they shut out the Panthers, 4 – 0. After taking a pair of wins over Tampa Bay, Nashville geared up and headed for Europe to play this NHL Global Series doubleheader in Prague. Colorado and Columbus will continue the new tradition when they play two regular season games at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, on November 4th and 5th.

I will tell you that I caught that second game against Tampa on the NHL Network and Nashville looks like they might be a contender this season. It is certainly early, but things are falling into place for this team, and I see good things happening in Tennessee.

Nashville is in Switzerland this week preparing for the two games in Prague, and one person who is enjoying his stay is Roman Josi. Josi is spending time all around his home town and the team even got to play a friendly against his old club, SC Bern. The Predators are getting ice time at PostFinance Arena, and Josi has been humbled with honors and good tidings since his arrival.

The Sharks won their first 4 games of the pre-season, although they did play one of those weird split-squad games on the 30th against Las Vegas and Anaheim. The Sharks offense went nuts putting up 7 goals against Vegas and the secondary squad lost 4 – 1 to Anaheim. I don’t see how separating the team to play different opponents can help anyone prepare for anything, but whatever.

Scoring has certainly been the Sharks’ approach out the pre-season gate, and I hope it means we’ll be able to play some San Jose totals this year. If you are following the Sharks around, you know all too well about how the Russia-Ukraine conflict almost ended this trip for San Jose. The Sharks have Russian players who were originally being told they were not going to be allowed in the country. San Jose GM Mike Grier responded to the Czech Republic government and told them if they can’t go, none of us are coming. We see how that worked out, right? They’re all here, so hopefully, there will be no incidents or issues during the stay.

Both teams had to level their roster to 27 players before the trip, and Michael McCarron is going to be a vocal and physical leader for the Preds all season. San Jose should be able to maintain a strong offensive approach to the year and I expect all 6 of these pucks to land in the back of the net tonight.

Keep in mind, there are a handful of other NHL games being played tonight, but those are all still pre-season affairs. This game and tomorrow’s game between these two teams will be recognized as regular season affairs that will count in the standings. Both teams have off for a week after these two games so they’ll have plenty of time to get the jet-lag out of their systems.
