FLORIDA PANTHERS VS NEW JERSEY DEVILS BEST BET: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21st

The New Jersey Devils are in hell at the moment, and their current run of results has our resident hockey pundit Ej Garr excited to offer another plus-money tip on the table. With another loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday night, the Devils are no longer Metropolitan Division leaders and the heat is on to turn it around.

Now carrying a 6-game losing skid into Wednesday night’s affair in Florida, the Devils are one step closer to hell with each loss they take. New Jersey was leading the entire Eastern Conference at one point. They’ve not only watched that disappear to Boston, but their lead in the Metropolitan Division no longer exists as well.

Getting out of a rut like this is no easy task, and the Panthers just handed New Jersey a 4 – 2 loss in New Jersey just last week. Florida accounted for the 5th loss during this 6-game run of poor results for the Devils, and I am surprised we still have some value to fade the Devils again tonight.

Now you know I will not post that 1.70 offer on the Moneyline because the Mayor of Value City doesn’t go there. You have not seen and will never see an offer from me beyond 1.80 in your lifetime, for what it’s worth. I take pride in that, and when I saw enough meat on the bone to take Florida to win in regulation time, I think we need to jump at the chance.

Hey, everything is a chance so let’s make no mistake that betting on how athletes perform every day is a tall order. Sure, the Devils will eventually snap out of it, but I am expecting them struggle a little bit longer. Oh, that schedule t, right?

New Jersey will play Boston on Friday and their first game after Christmas is a rematch with the Bruins before taking on Pittsburgh next. Yeah, that will be a fun end to the 2022 portion of the campaign! New Jersey could potentially be facing a 10-game losing stretch to end the calendar year if they don’t get their heads right.

Lindy Ruff just got to New Jersey when the pandemic arose, and a good start won’t mean a damn thing if they give it all away. So far, Ruff has only managed to get the Devils as high as 7th place, and could you imagine if they end up missing out on the post-season again? I don’t think Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has a clue what he is doing, and should this run continue to cost them spots in the table, he and Ruff will both be out of a job.

This is proof of why rankings mean nothing. It’s why I barely try to mention them if I can help it, but I know people love their numbers for some reason so I feel obligated to mention them. Look at New Jersey and their 2nd ranked shots on goal and 2nd ranked shots allowed on goal. Yeah, so what.

What is any of that going to do to help them end this losing streak? NADA, ZERO, ZILCH!
