Carolina Hurricanes vs Ottawa Senators Best Bet: Tuesday, April 4th

The Carolina Hurricanes are getting closer to clinching the Metropolitan Division title, and with a three-point lead with six games left to play in the regular season points are of the essence. The Ottawa Senators are out of the playoff picture but it won’t stop them from giving the Canes all they can handle on Tuesday night.

The Canes carry a three-point lead in the Metropolitan Division standings heading into Tuesday’s action, and the line setters are pointing to an easy victory for the home team with odds of 1.37 on the Moneyline.

The New Jersey Devils are also in action tonight, as they’ll play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and it is turning the chase for the Metro title into one exciting finish.

Carolina will play four of their last 5 five games of the regular season on the road, and these two teams will lock horns one more time before the playoffs get underway. I am not so keen on the Canes thrashing the Senators tonight, and when I saw the heavy juice on the Moneyline I knew we would be getting a pretty fair price on the handicap for this title.

As I look around the net, I see 1.91 and 1,89 types of lines being offered at most major books for the +1.5 handicap but 1x2Bet is up to 1.93 offering the best line I can find. As you know, I look at all of the bookmakers’ prices and scan all of our options to find us a decently priced offer to give, and the +1.5 holds value to me because I think Ottawa can give Carolina some trouble tonight.

Antti Raanta is listed as the Canes expected netminder tonight and his 2.22 GAA looks very nice next to the 17 – 2 – 2 – 1 record he’s accumulated this campaign. Cam Talbot is listed as the probable goalie listed for the Senators and you might think I am a little crazy trying to pull this tip on the board but I simply expect a close game to take place.

Ottawa is that team that can give any playoff team trouble on a given night, yet they can look so ugly just the same. The Senators have recently taken out Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Florida, but then they lose to teams like Columbus who are absolutely terrible. Consistency is not a word anyone can use to describe the Senators, but my gut is telling me that they will not go away quietly tonight.

Carolina brings a 2-game win streak into tonight’s contest but that followed a trio of losses as the Canes are also trying to find their game. The Islanders just skated into PNC Arena and battled the Canes to a 2 – 1 loss, and the Canes have been involved with so many 1-goal games of late.

We do have some stats in our favour when it comes to the Sens, as they are 9-4 in their last 13 games against Metropolitan teams and are 22-10 in their last 32 against Eastern Conference foes.
