Calgary Flames vs Edmonton Oilers Best Bet: A Saturday Night Show Up North
Calgary Flames vs Edmonton Oilers Best Bet: Saturday, October 29th
Le Flame and Le Oiler take to the ice on Saturday night for a Pacific Division showdown, and our resident NHL pundit Ej Garr smells twine burning again. What’s that scent? It’s the scent of the puck scraping against the net so many times that we can smell burnt rubber, baby! Prepare yourself for a show at the Saddledome!

Did you see it? Oh, well here, let me point you to the first candidate for goal of the week/month. Hell, let’s go with maybe even all of the campaign because Connor McDavid’s goal to tie the game at 2 against Chicago on Thursday night was ridiculous!
Please do yourself a favour, and head to Youtube to watch McDavid take a seemingly harmless pass at his blue line and plow down the ice. Down 2 – 1 to start the second period. He took that little dump-off pass and drove the distance of the ice, and then he launched a twisted wrister that found the spot where Momma hides the cookies! The Hawks announcer was even like, “Oh my goodness gracious” because uh, it was stupid!
That dude is about the best player in hockey, and if you feel like debating that with me, you must have missed my last Oilers preview. The guys on NHL Network were comparing Crosby and Malkin to McDavid and Draisaitl, and they all went with the pair of Oilers.
Its unstoppable scoring efforts like that can change a game, and it inspires even more goals to be scored. I wanted to lace them up and get back on the ice so it has to fire up the guys around him even more!
The game with Chicago went even more bonkers on Thursday as it was 3 – 3 before the halfway point of the game in the 2nd period. There were 26 penalty minutes before they even arrived at the 3rd period, and now let’s talk about what Le Flame is doing thus far.
How about the 5th ranked team on the power play and the 4th ranked team that puts up nearly 37 shots a game? Calgary is gelling, and the last time they took the ice a 4-spot hit the scoreboard in a convincing win over Pittsburgh, 4 – 1. Nazem Kadri is enjoying the choice he made in the off-season to leave Colorado after winning a title to head for the great white North. He is leading the squad with 9 points and he is playing well on that 2nd line with Dube and Mangiapane.
We just never know what guys work well together until they get given the opportunity, and it makes Calgary tough to defend all night having multiple lines contributing points at the moment.
When I was looking at the early lines, the line setters are offering us a 6.5 with even money to go over. You betcha!

Don’t even wait until this price inflates, because it will either move to a straight 7 or be pricey closer to puck drop. Early bird gets the better price!
