Anaheim Ducks vs Philadelphia Flyers Best Bet: Monday, January 2nd
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023, and as the puck drops into a new year our resident hockey expert Ej Garr will be following up an outstanding 2022 portion of the campaign. With only 3 games on the Monday slate, Ej has gone out west to give us a tip from the game between the Flyers and Ducks.
It looks like he is totally excited to give us his prediction for this match, as lamps will be lit, horns will be heard, and many celebrations will take place in the stands for the fans.

Anaheim Ducks vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview
January 3, 03:00 (UK time)
The Ducks and Flyers will begin the 2022 portion of the campaign in Anaheim on Monday night, and I am rather excited to see that we have enough value on this total to offer up today’s best bet. William Hill and most major sites are only asking for a 1.87 on the Over 6 with overtime included, and you probably know I was eyeing that 1st Period Both Teams to Score option again.
We struck out on Friday with the attempt to go 3 – 0 with the prop to end 2022, and there is plenty of value for this game’s 1st-period BTTS at 2.60 so it makes me want to go right back to the well. The problem I have is that we all know that both of these teams have been so inconsistent this year, and that is why the line setters are leaving all of that value on a 1 – 1 score by the end of the first period.
The last time Anaheim took the ice they looked terrible against Nashville in a 6 – 1 loss at home. The Preds threw 43 pucks at John Gibson and he let some soft goals in again as he has been seen doing all season. Gibson’s GAA is now just under 4 (3.97), and he is listed as the expected netminder for Anaheim tonight along with Carter Hart for the Flyers.
Gibson has only won 6 of his 24 starts this year, and in the meantime, the Flyers have played six straight games that have seen no less than 7 goals scored. We haven’t even needed overtime to get there either, so why would we shy away from expecting to see six more goals tonight?
The last three times Carter Hart has started, he too has not seen a game end with less than 7 goals scored and he hasn’t skated since December 23. With 9 days off and both of these goalkeepers suspect, I strongly suggest you touch this total to go over the 6, and yes, I would love to expect a 1 – 1 opening frame to cash another BTTS.
Anaheim Ducks vs Philadelphia Flyers Best Bet
It pains me to have to start the year laying some marginal juice, but cashing tickets is just about being on the right side and making the right call. I am dying to tell you to expect a 1 – 1 opening period, but let’s just start the new year 1 – 0 when they get to 3
- Selection: 1st Period BTTS
- Best odds: 2.0 (William Hill)
- Stakes 4/10
Odds as of 9:00 am January 2, 2022. Odds may now differ.
