There are six scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Fontwell, Kelso and Newton Abbot to study on spring ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Sussex venue (and the ultra shrewd Gary Moore sure to be well represented). Flat fans have decent grade action to study at Chester as the historic May meeting begins, alongside Gowran Park in the evening, while AW action comes from Kempton in the evening from 6.00pm (and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year).

Charlie Hill’s handicapper was hammered in the market on his return to the fray at Newbury last month, sent off 7/2f but suffering a troubled run in the wrong part of the track as things panned out (third home in that group). He still appeals as one who has upside from this kind of mark, and his win at this unique track last season (over six furlongs in the mud) shows that the conditions will be no issue back here under William Buick.

John and Sean Quinn have made a good start to their first season training together, with two winners in the last fortnight, and their promising 3-y-o appeals as one well worth following in handicaps over the next few months. He has optimum conditions for this seasonal reappearance at Chester on Wednesday, with Jason Hart an excellent booking and plenty of scope to improve after just four career starts on the turf as a juvenile.
