Today’s Horse Racing Tips – June 20th
Tuesday sees the start of the fantastic five day Royal Ascot meeting, with top class action throughout the day as runners from all over the world gather for the very best flat racing on ground that is likely to be perfect (after selective watering over the last few weeks). There are three Group 1 contests and extremely competitive racing throughout the seven race card, with the five furlong Group 1 Kings Stand at 3.40pm undoubtedly one of the best races of the week, with top class familiar sprinters from around the world likely to be locking horns again. In contrast, the stamina sapping Ascot Stakes at 5pm (over two miles and four furlongs), provides a severe test of stamina (that very few horses on the turf are able to stay properly).
Elsewhere, there are supporting flat meetings at Beverley, Brighton and Thirsk, while NH fans have the cards at Stratford and Wexford to get stuck into.

Aidan O’Brien has a fantastic record in the Coventry over the years, and his strapping Wootton Bassett colt has created a deep impression in winning both of his starts in Ireland so far. He is already proven over this six furlong trip (on soft ground on debut in April), seems sure to get a positive ride from Ryan Moore, and the level of form achieved so far at Navan and Naas is likely to be comfortably in advance of anything his English rivals have achieved in weaker races.

Charlie Hills has enjoyed a terrific couple of months, and his progressive performer is worth sticking with now upped in class to Group 1 company at Royal Ascot. He travelled and quickened clear in the manner of a very smart colt when winning last time out at Goodwood in April, and will relish the fast ground over this mile trip under Kieron Shoemark. Favourite Chaldean had a hard race from the front when winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on much softer ground, and that form has not worked out at all in behind, while Paddington might find these firmer conditions a problem.
