Today’s Horse Racing Tips – January 9th

There are three meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with NH fans in for a varied afternoon of action. They have Exeter and Market Rasen to get stuck into on soft ground, with some decent handicaps to solve at Haldon in particular alongside a few potentially interesting youngsters from the Paul Nicholls yards. AW fans have low grade action to study, with Southwell putting on a modest card under the lights starting at 5.30pm.

Venetia Williams has maintained a terrific strike rate over the last few months (4 winners in the last fortnight), and her promising maiden chaser will relish the test of stamina in the mud at Exeter on Tuesday. He shaped nicely when a well backed second on his chasing debut at Ludlow in November (jumping warming up through the race), and is open to a lot more improvement under Charlie Deutsch than these much more exposed rivals.

Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch have teamed up to good effect in recent months, and the combination can strike again here with soft ground conditions to suit. Their progressive performer jumped and travelled strongly when winning at this track over hurdles last season, and had excuses when a slightly disappointing on his chasing debut over an inadequate trip back here in November.
