Tuesday’s Horse Racing Tips: Ayr, January 2nd
Today’s Horse Racing Tips – January 2nd
There are three meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with NH fans in for an interesting afternoon at the lower end of competition. They have Ayr and Fakenham to get stuck into on testing ground, with some decent handicaps to solve at the Scottish venue in particular (alongside a few potentially smart novices from the top Nicky Richards yard). AW fans have low grade action under the lights to study, with Wolverhampton getting underway at 5.30pm.

Beat the Retreat
Ayr 1:15 (UK time)
Nick Alexander has his team in terrific form at the moment, and his progressive young hurdler impressed when winning at this track over 2m2f last month. He will relish this stiffer test of stamina now upped to 2m4f back at Ayr on Tuesday, with deep ground ideal and plenty more improvement in the tank after just five runs over hurdles.
Odds: NA
Today’s Value Angle
Up Helly AA King
Ayr 1:45 (UK time)
Nick Alexander’s veteran 13yo stayer possibly needed the run when disappointing at Cheltenham last month, but he had well capable off this sort of mark at Doncaster in March and can get back to his best now upped to 3m. One of his four career wins over fences came on heavy ground at this venue, and he should go really close with a clean round of jumping under Danny McMenamin.
Odds: NA
