Thursday's Horse Racing Tips: Wincanton, January 18th

Today’s Horse Racing Tips – January 18th
There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with NH fans in for a busy and informative afternoon (if the tracks can beat the freezing temperatures overnight). They have Fairyhouse, Ludlow and Wincanton to study on mainly soft ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Somerset venue in particular (where the champion trainer Paul Nicholls has such a brilliant record). AW fans have low grade action to study at Chelmsford and in the evening at Southwell, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm (and the low grade handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year).

Non Stop
Wincanton 2:35 (UK time)
Joe Tizzard’s winning hurdler has run with promise on all three starts so far over fences, and his latest course and distance third behind Libberty Hunter has been well advertised by the winner at a higher level since (winning a valuable Cheltenham handicap in style next time). He has a chance to dominate from the tape here under the excellent Brendan Powell, and the drying ground conditions should suit ideally at this sharp right-handed track.

Today’s Value Angle
American Sniper
Wincanton 1:25 (UK time)
David Pipe and Jack Tudor have teamed up to terrific effect in recent weeks, and their battle-hardened handicapper seems sure to go close here with conditions to suit. He bounced back to his very best form at 20/1 when winning at Cheltenham in November, and showed this mark was well within his compass when a creditable fourth at Taunton last time out (tapped for speed over an inadequate trip).
Odds: NA
