They have Catterick, Clonmel and Fontwell to get stuck into on soft ground, with some decent handicaps to solve at the Irish venue in particular alongside a few potential star novices from the top Elliott and Mullins yards. AW fans have low grade action to study, with Chelmsford and Southwell putting on a competitive cards to keep the industry going through to the evening under lights.

Neil Mulholland’s progressive handicapper has thrived in recent weeks, and can defy a 7lb penalty at Fontwell on Thursday. He had plenty in hand when winning at Catterick on heavy ground last week (very heavily backed and ridden with plenty of confidence from miles off the pace), and this looks a terrific opening to go in again with Harry Cobden an excellent booking for these astute connections.

He caught the eye under extremely negative tactics at Ascot last time out, and a return to calmer waters here (and a more positive ride at a track where he has run well before), can see him get back on the winning trail under regular rider Niall Houlihan.
