Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips: Ascot, Haydock August 10th
Today’s Racing Tips – August 10th
Saturday’s ITV racing features the Shergar Cup from Ascot, with the whole card of handicaps covered and the ground conditions sure to be on the faster side of good as the fine spell of weather continues. There is some quality Group race action too, with both Haydock and Newmarket putting on some top class fare for excellent prize money.

ANGELICA BAY
Nermarket 3.40 (UK time)
Ollie Sangster has a very strong hand in the juvenile division, and his promising filly looks sure to relish a step up to seven furlongs at Newmarket on Saturday. The booking of Kevin Stott is a definite plus to her chances, and there is plenty more improvement to come after just two career starts so far (heavily supported last time at Doncaster but rather allowed the winner first run).
Odds: 6.00

STERLING KNIGHT
Haydock 2.25 (UK time)
Ed Dunlop has hit form with two winners in the last week, and his consistent handicapper served notice his turn was near again with a very creditable effort in a warm contest at Ascot last time out (too free under restraint intially). The very promising claimer Sean Dylan-Bowen is booked for the ride, and he will be looking for gaps as he looks to pounce late on the prevailing fast ground.
Odds: 13.00
ITV Racing Tips – Saturday August 10th
Time (UK) | Track | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:35 | Ascot | APOLLO ONE | Peter Charalambous’s stable star was carried out on his sword at Glorious Goodwood earlier in the week, and seems sure to take plenty of catching here is able to dictate matters from the stalls on fast ground that suits. |
2:10 | Ascot | RANCH HAND | Andrew Balding’s stayer has slid quickly down the weights after two quiet runs after a long break, and should now be nearing peak fitness with conditions to suit. |
2:45 | Ascot | CRACKSKING | James Fanshawe’s improving handicapper has been running well in victory and defeat in recent starts on the all-weather, and remains with plenty of upside after just five career starts on the turf. |
3:00 | Haydock | CERTAIN LAD | Jack Channon’s ten time winner returned to his very best in the mud at Compiegne last time out, and has already proved himself capable granted much faster underfoot conditions. |
3:20 | Ascot | ARAMRAM | Richard Hannon’s unexposed sprinter remains open to plenty more improvement after just four career starts on the turf, and went into the notebook at Windsor last time out when duelling on far too strong a gallop. |
3:55 | Ascot | DAMBUSTER | Andrew Balding’s progressive perfomer had deep conditions as a valid excuse when disappointing at Sandown last time out in July, and remains open to improvement over middle distances after just four career starts on the turf. |
4:30 | Ascot | TACARIB BAY | This formerly useful miler has slumped quickly down the weights after a largely disappointing summer so far, but he he hinted at a bit better when 5th of 10 in his group last time at this track (7f) and this looks an easier assignment. |
